1795 $5 Gold American Eagle Coin
1795 $5 PCGS AU50
If you’ve ever wondered what the first gold coins issued by the United States looked like, then look no further.
Austin Rare Coins and Bullion just placed this gorgeous 1795 Capped Bust Right $5 gold coin with a local client, graded by PCGS in About Unc 50 condition. This type was struck from 1795 to 1798 and depicts a capped lady liberty, facing right on the obverse, with the date underneath and surrounded by 13 stars.
The reverse is unique to the earliest gold coins-a small or “weak” eagle holding a wreath in its beak and an olive branch in its talons.
These coins were made in incredibly small quantities. This first year of issue saw just 8,707 coins struck, and it’s estimated that under 500 exist in all grades combined today. Most have been damaged or improperly cleaned over the years, so finding an unimpaired example like this is a rare occurrence. Coins such as these have always been highly prized by investors and collectors alike, so we were thrilled to have located and placed this example in a prominent Austin, TX collection.

Summer 2024 Hard Money Investor
zhlédnutí 26Před 21 dnem
Last summer, our Hard Money Investor issue was entitled “Gold: A Coiled Spring,” it talked about the important base being set at $2,000 an ounce. It was a big, round number, and breaking 2K was very important, setting the base for gold breaking to new all-time highs. Today, we sit at $2,400, 20 percent higher. Silver is 30 percent higher. But this is small, not the big move we are going to disc...

Legal tender throughout the Euro zone.
this coin is not for sale it belongs to the world cultural heritage, it is illegal it must be given to a Greek museum
Wrong. It is a certified coin that has been auctioned, and only one-of-a-kind or extremely rare museum pieces stay in museums. Museums sell duplicate coins to raise funds. Again, it is totally legit!
Lovely coin, drenched in history.

How long ago was that, and what year was it? It makes a difference if the coin is truly rare or not. Some years have more issues surviving than others.

@AustinRareCoins this is a different graded one. What about the one from the video?
The one from the video is also graded. We usually only deal in graded coins. Occasionally, we will sent a coin in to get graded that we pick up at auction, but we must see the coin first and have it checked before we ever buy.
