Wow i have had friends take that exact cruise , ive always been wary about cruises maybe because of my true crime knowledge.

I am 100% with Stephanie! The ocean is a big fear of mine and no way I will go on a cruise.

You have to be responsible for your own safety don’t be blackout drunk don’t think you know the person you met less than a week ago because they are polite at dinner or nice at the pool. Remember that not everyone comes from the same culture and have different opinions and experiences than you have my family goes on cruises every year or two because my mom likes us to spend time together I think the worst thing that’s ever happened is a pick pocket on some excursion you can’t be scared of everything life would be extremely sad

I think Derrick is skipping over a valuable piece of information regarding sexual assualt reports on cruises. I've read accounts of ppl reporting sexual assualts that occurred while they were on a cruise, but waited until they were home...because they were more familiar with the laws/procedures of their own country. Instead of being helped, these victims are met with law enforcement who has difficulty pursuing a case because they're unsure which country actually has authority. I agree with Stephanie for the most part. Unfortunately, a background check will never protect us from a perpetrator who's never been caught whether that person is a rapist, child abuser, or murderer.

And really... all the true crime we listen to keeps us on our toes, so we are always making sure we are safe, no matter where we are. You both will be fine and I'll be so excited to see you!! I'll have your gift ready, Stephanie!!

I would not take a cruise because I am also afraid of the ocean. Not afraid of the people on board, there are probably the same hiring other places you travel so 🤷‍♀️. But the ocean.... no thanks. I'll do a beach.... not a boat. Lol

I have mixed feelings on this one.. we actually just returned from a week long RC Bahamas cruise with 16 other family members. It was my first cruise and I was excited but scared. I did my research on all the things crime related that have occurred on cruise ships.. i searched the cabin for hidden cameras and even public bathrooms I was looking around for hidden cameras etc.. I can honestly say I felt very safe on the cruise itself. In Nassau, not so much, so you just need to do your research and be prepared. With our experience I actually thought the employees/ staff were amazing and enjoyed getting to know some of them. I know that is not everyone’s experience though. I would definitely go again, but I cannot say I am not at all fearful of floating in the middle of the sea.

I think the main thing that Stephanie doesn't know is that the FBI is involved anytime an American is involved with a crime on the high sea. Rebecca Coriam was not American and her country didn't investigate. Also, you should always be vigilant and not get so drunk that you're an easy target on land or at sea.

Seriously I absolutely agree with Stephanie. I would not like being stuck out in the ocean. Give me land.

I think the crimes on a cruise ship are overblown. You hear about the cases that do happen because they're unusual. But then there's hundreds of thousands of more passengers on that same ship that nothing happened to and had a grand time.

Crimes like these can happen anywhere.

I honestly feel like we need to boycott cruise ships until they decide to care about the safety of their passengers. I have heard so many stories about things going wrong with cruise ships and the people who run them don’t want people to be scared. This causes them to want to hide stories about bad things happening or to not fully investigate because they don’t want people to know that answer. Cruise ships are just and shady as Boeing airplanes. Vacation and your own risk

It's not even just the crime and danger but like...cesspool of germs. If one person brings a stomach bug on the ship it ruins everybody's vacation. I cannot bring myself to trap myself on a boat, in the middle of the ocean (I feel exactly the same about the ocean) and then realize I've not only put myself at risk for a dangerous situation but also at risk to have a bad time and get germs

I’m closer to Stephanie than Derek as far as cruises go, but mine is for medical reasons like remember what happened during Covid with all the cruise ships no thank you❤

I've never been on a cruise. But, some of my family have been on several and loved it. I love being around water and would probably love it. I've heard more about sexual assault than anything. But I think if you're aware of your surroundings as you would be on land things will be fine. When we went to Italy we were aware about pic pockets etc. Passports and money were carried by my son who's a big guy. Had to do a lot of pre gaming cause I hate long flights 😂. It makes me nervous that something as big as a ship or plane doesn't belong on water or air.😅

Plus the law gets hazy in international waters...

Assuming that you should be safe on a cruise ship is like assuming you should be safe when going to a bar. Especially with all the insane drinking people do on cruise ships. Let's face it, people, our safety is our own responsibility. Sad, but true. (Coming from a girl who loves her beer and wine, but who's also learned not to trust people, especially strangers, no matter how nice they may seem.)

i had a more positive experience.Cruising on the Carnival Sunshine I had a cardiac arrest and had no pulse and the doctor brought me back and saved my life.Forever grateful to him and his staff.

The death statistics are so low because most aren't declared until the body is offloaded in port. Just like Disneyland

I believe cruise ships are the perfect place to disappear - you can walk off at a port and not come back, you can jump off or throw somebody overboard at night and they'll never be found.. I just don't like cruises because I get bored and don't like the feeling of being trapped in a floating metal box. 😅

Cruised 2 months ago, going on another next month, and going on another next april.... it's all about being aware of your surroundings, not making stupid choices, and knowing you can get hurt anywhere. The rails are so high, it should be very difficult for a normal person to "fall" overboard. That never makes sense to me. I'm not saying it can't happen, but it's not normal nor easy. I LOVE cruising! It's my favorite way to vacation.

I am a vacation cruiser. I average two 7 or more day and one 3-5 day cruise annually. I believe I am just as safe on a cruise ship as anywhere else on vacation. Just booked a Greek Isle cruise for 2025, can't wait! Stephanie, you're missing out, but I'm not a planner, so I love to get on a cruise ship and see and do whatever there is to, or nothing if I just want to hang out on the deck.

I love you Stephanie but I have to disagree with you on this one…Where to start? First you are not spending a crap load of money…considering that your food is included with the price of the cruise it is very reasonable. And no you are not paying enough to have a personal body guard. Secondly wherever you go for vacation you have to responsibility for your own wellbeing. I have never…ever just sit down next to a pool with a cocktail and just expected wherever I was that they had were personally responsible for my safety. That is totally unreasonable to expect that from any vacation locale. I do understand your thinking but I do think that you know that you are always ultimately in charge of your own safety. I think you take a risk no matter how you travel. You could say no travel is safe. Be aware. Pay attention. Dont put yourself in shady situations. Its the same rules no matter how you travel.

I really hope you guys do more Cruise ship content! I've only been on one cruise, and i was a very naive 17 year old. Now at 27 years old, i tend to lean towards Stephanie's opinion on their safety😂 but I do want to go on another sometime.

Stephanie, Titanic was NOT a cruise ship. LOL It was just a regular transport carrying passengers from Europe to North America. But overall, I can relate to your fears and insecurities regarding cruise ships. Never been on one, and am not really fascinated by the idea. Give me my regular seaside holiday, and I'm a happy woman :))

I'll go on a cruise one day but I will take very good care of myself and who I'm with. I've learned over my almost 51years on this rock that in most cases your first and best protection is actually YOU. By not over drinking and letting your guard completely down. I know it's not what a vacation is supposed to be but is our world what it's supposed to be? Women can't be in public without feeling like a target at some point. I'm sad to say that doesn't change when we go on vacation, as much as I wish it did.

I literally just got back from a cruise on Monday and I’m ALWAYS on high alert when I’m on a cruise, this was my 2nd cruise and it’s fun but YOU HAVE TO stay ALERT aware of your surroundings but I will still go on them 🤣☺️🥰
