Dawn To Dusk Gardening
Registrace 26. 09. 2018
From sunup to sundown, a gardener's work is never done. We're always planning, sowing, growing, watering, weeding until the crop is ready. Then we're harvesting, freezing, canning, dehydrating, preserving and planning how we can do it better the following year. Join me on this journey.
Goodbye Squash!
I lost my battle with the vine borers this season. Take a look at this gorgeous yellow squash and say goodbye because they have to go. All of these are getting removed because I still have time for another round before the temps get too low in our area.

Strawberry Visitor
zhlédnutí 219Před 2 měsíci
I found this little visitor in the strawberries. He has two speeds... off and hyper speed.
Radishes Gone Wild
zhlédnutí 59Před 2 měsíci
The high heat and no rain made the radishes bolt before they had a chance to work their magic below the soil. I got some radishes in before it got too crazy but the rest I let run wild. They got tall, bloomed and now have pea pod looking things all over them. It's been interesting to watch the changes in the plant as an experiment.
It Finally Rained
zhlédnutí 150Před 2 měsíci
In the last hours of June, we finally got our first bit of rain for the month. I'm managing to keep things alive by watering but they are not thriving.
Trying To Beat The Heat
zhlédnutí 20Před 2 měsíci
The first shade cloth is up and it is making a huge difference. Two more to go. Each one is 20'x40'. The hoop house already has shade cloth and I could see a noticeable difference it was making. I am attempting to repeat those results for all the raised beds outside the hoop house in the full sun.
Morning BlackBerry Picking
zhlédnutí 68Před 2 měsíci
We pick berries twice a day when the season really gets going. This patch of volunteer blackberries is loaded this year and I'm harvesting what I can this morning.
Little Miss Lemon Balm
zhlédnutí 58Před 2 měsíci
Little Miss Lemon Balm has lots of off shoots that need to be dug up and moved to a new location. She creates chaos wherever she goes, so choose wisely where you plant her. Anyone need any Lemon Balm? I happen to have extra.
Early June Tour
zhlédnutí 32Před 3 měsíci
Take a peek at what's growing in the garden in early June. I'm very excited about the addition of medicinal herbs this year.
Baby Asparagus
zhlédnutí 8Před 3 měsíci
It's so exciting to see new plants come up but this one is especially exciting. One of the goals this year is adding perennials and asparagus is one of the ones I've added. First sprout has arrived!
Morning Surprise
zhlédnutí 36Před 3 měsíci
I don't do surprises well, at least not the moving surprises kind. I have a love/hate relationship with my blacksnakes. I love the job they do but I hate it when they surprise me!
Chives
zhlédnutí 30Před 3 měsíci
Want to get your chives to multiply quickly? Do what I did in this video.
Working on the Water Lines
zhlédnutí 11Před 3 měsíci
I'm running 1/2" piping and 1/2" drip lines throughout the garden to put in drip irrigation. Check out what I've done so far.
Lettuce in the Fridge
zhlédnutí 43Před 3 měsíci
The lettuce has been picked and now it's time to put it in the fridge. I seem to have the best results keeping the lettuce crisp and fresh doing it this way. If you have a better way, let me know!
Harvesting the Lettuce

Time to get some of this lettuce in the house before it heats up again!

I love your garden life❤❤
Do you have a book on herbal remedies that you love and can recommend?
I have lots of great books to recommend. I'll work on a quick video with those!
Hello my dear friend ❤beautiful video ❤like 10 thank you for shairing good work send my support stay connected ❤
This is so cool!
Well you made short work of that! I’ve been using Vego Garden beds and while I like them, they take a lot longer to assemble.
Just came in from building my last two. I have room for maybe 3-5 more depending on where I put them. Eventually all mine will be doubled up to make them taller but that's a ways off in the future. Waterlines and the 2nd 36' hoop house are the next two things I want to accomplish before the year is out.
@@DawnToDuskGardening Nice!
We had the biggest mulberry tree when i was little, im the only one that ate them. No one else inew what theyvwere till long after it was cut down😮😢
My intro to mulberries was when I was a kid too. I visited my aunt's house and she had a huge mulberry tree. I ate mulberries morning, noon and night. I haven't had one since then but that memory triggered the first purchase of a mulberry tree for MY yard.
yummmmm
What kind of fertilizer do you use on them?
😋
Looks yummy!
It was!
Wow, those are nice and deep! Great job
They are pretty deep for cold frames but I wanted enough below the soil line grow room for root veggies and enough above the dirt grow area for those veggies that need it.
Nice! They look good
They are! Now I just need several gallons worth to be ripe so I can make jam!
Those are beautiful!
This is so cool! Turned out great!
Setting up soaker hoses to 7 beds today - it’s quite an investment but I think (hope 🤞🏻🤞🏻) it will pay off. Next? Coldframes!!!
It is an investment. I can't use soaker hoses because it requires water pressure. I'll be adding more on the cold frames in the next few days. It will depend on the rain.
You are awesome!!! Can't wait for the end result!
I never thought about that 🤔 It’s all I could find at my local Lowe’s but if I ever get that rain barrel I would have to change over to what you have. Tell me where you got those solar lights you have for your hoop house - I’d love to get some!

@@DawnToDuskGardening PERFECT! THANK YOU!!!
That's a great idea!
How many potatoes do you get from one slip? Isn’t there something you have to do to “cure” the potatoes before they are edible? Obv I’ve never grown them!
You should get quite a few from each. There’s no set number and the length of time and growing conditions make a huge difference. Once they are harvested you let them set for a couple weeks before eating or storing them. Supposedly sweetens them more.
Send some up this way! I’m WAY behind . . . I’ve had a couple in water w/toothpicks for about 3 weeks now and they are FINALLY developing roots. Got them from an organic store but I suspect they were sprayed with something to retard sprouting. 😢
Come on down and get some! Message me and I can try mailing some to you!
@@DawnToDuskGardening 😆 I’ll just have to be patient . . . Not a strength of mine as you well know!😉🤣
Ummm . . . So I may have put the potatoes in the water upside down 🤦🏻♀️ Now my slips are growing underwater desperately trying to make their way to the surface. Salvageable??? They’re only a couple of inches long but some have leaves. Pull them off and put in water to root or wait till they’re longer?
@@bonniep.7856 It's all an experiment. Try both ways then report back which worked faster. :) I'm betting the slips put in water will root much quicker.
