They were lucky that they still had enough runway left. A few seconds later there would have not been enough runway ahead to stop and the pilots would have had to do there best to take off with a flat tire. Seems like the trucks would be designed for such an event. Four wheels per truck with a margins of safety built in ( three wheels can easily handle the load). If the front tire blows, well that is a different ball-game. A slight change in attitude will have to be compensated ( how much?) and again after the point of no return is passed, the pilots will have to take off anyway. The good thing is with a flat tire the distance it takes to stop will be shortened some what. Also Runways are made longer than necessary to handle most emergencies requiring more runway. Pilots that don’t get three green lights should not worry too much. A light bulb may be burned out. But the fact remains green light or no green light they have to land the plane ( not enough fuel to stay up for ever) Try 3 or 4 times if no green light. Assume you are going to make a landing with compromised landing gear. You have been trained right? Stopping distance will probably be shorter with the possibility of fire. Call out the emergency, request fire / rescue service and then do that pilot shit. The stuff you are trained to do! 😂😂😂 Make it a perfect landing otherwise. What else is there to do? Right😉

Except all modern military jets use turbofan engines just as their civilian counterparts. Fighters use “low-bypass” turbofan. In these engines, the fan blow a little bit of air around the core to impart some thrust and to provide cooling plus oxygen to the afterburner when needed. Airliners use “high-bypass” turbofan engines and as their name suggests, much more air that enters the engine goes through the bypass. The front fan is a heavy-duty compressor which compresses the incoming air, the bypass air is compressed and heated by the hot core, expands and accelerates out the back of the exhaust nozzle to mix with the core flow and that’s what reduces their noise. A common misconception is that high-bypass turbofans are just “ducted propellers” driven by turbojets. Of course this isn’t true because the fan is a compressor just like the axial compress blades that compress the core flow just as the fan compresses the bypass flow. All of the fan’s energy is used to compress the incoming air so there’s the fan has no energy left over of its own to produce any thrust. If anything, ironically it’s low-bypass engines that get some of their thrust from the fan acting like a propeller. Turbofans actually work at high speeds too (transonic) like turbojets and the latter are actually theoretically better at higher speeds than the former. But such big engines generate more drag which is why they don’t practically work as well at super high speeds. On the flip side, even the best engines fit for high speed are equipped with afterburners to reach such speeds (supersonic). When it comes to low speeds (subsonic), it’s turboprop engines that work best at those speeds but not as well as higher speeds. That’s because turboprops aren’t un-ducted turbofans as discussed earlier. Neat stuff🤓

All of these great innovations are good for airlines bottom line. Also good for pilots too. But the average passenger on a long haul flight has to sit in a very stiff, upright seat with almost no padding, packed in like sardines. Cabin crews make them keep all the windows closed and make them sit in the dark, trying to make them sleep, then interupt their sleep with dumb announcements about seatbelts, smoking and credit card offers.
