Roy Harper on Test Match Special (TMS) 23/07/2011 - 4 of 4
Roy talks to Aggers about touring with Led Zeppelin, destroying hotel rooms and tying young girls to bedposts. Then commentates on the first two balls after lunch (sort of). Highly recommended

Roy is spot on here - music and it's relevance to one's life as I knew it is dead - never to return.
Courtesy of pink floyd...his price for singing on have a cigar, a lifelong season ticket for Lords 😅
Hahah (crying a bit) ”the question is not longer ’whatever record did you bit this week?’, it’s sonettens like ’how much iron did you pump this week?’” Haha, holy fuck, the world right now
What a delight. One of those days in England. Hats off to Roy.
Magic
Just perfect
“Commentate”? Why not simply “comment”?
😎😎😎
Just magnificent. Probably the best five minutes of TMS ever........
Brilliant Artist, brilliant Cricket Fan,lovely Person,Hats Off To Roy Harper
Pure poetry - should be on every school’s curriculum ✌🏻🏏🎶
Mind is blown !
This guy is unbelievably underrated
A Ken pal eh
I saw the old feller play this as the culmination of his performance at Leeds Town Hall on his farewell tour. So sad. Brilliant memories.
2lb 6 of willow wood....... When bats were bats, not artless clubs!
So human. Loving it. Thanks :-) Just goes to show there are all sorts of horses for their own courses.......
love the way Roy REALLY wants to commentate... it's just that he chooses his words SOOO carefully :0) hope you had a great lunch with Lord David, Roy!
perfect match - lovely :0)
5.07 awesome
Glad to see Roy finally getting the respect he's deserved for decades of unflinchingly honest work for five decades.A great soul capturing the soul of a great sport...thanks for everything Mr Harper.
with 2lb 6 of willow! beautiful Roy..
Outstanding! I'm so glad there's still great musicians out there. Especially with the acoustic. Gotta love it.
Two of favourite things, Roy Harper and cricket! Thanks for posting.
Me to.
Brilliant . Thanks so much for posting .
Makes me cry. Third or more time of hearing the TMS broadcast. Still makes me cry.
thanks for posting just listened 1 to 3, what a legend Roy is and long may he remain so
Genius
quality
Didn't hear this when originally broadcast, many thanks Bondinski, superb!!!
Aggers & Harper....wonderful
No I need o
I love TMS and I love Roy Harper. This is simply wonderful.
I always think of myself as 16 - the first and only time I ever saw Roy live.
And this is referenced on the Guardian today. Made me search this out again and guess what? Crying again.
hahah Roy would be the worst commentator ever, he considers every word so carefully that he would still be describing the first ball at the end of the over. Thanks for posting this, it's great.
Considering the location, is this the ultimate version of this classic!
How great to hear this! I missed it when it was broadcast, and am a fan of both Roy and TMS. So, thanks a million!
Think the TMS studio is a bit too good these days. And I can't see any cake.

Still sounding great - good on you Roy...
Makes me think of games on the front lawn of Nana Wheeler's, with my sister and 2 step brothers in 1964, learning LBW and how to bowl overarm, hit a six, and run run run for all you are worth! That's what cricket is to me - not even a team of 11, just playing it in the summer, nothing to do with the mind, but play, and keep score! Something about Roy!
With long, hot and seemingly endless summer holidays to play it in too. You're right, it wasn't anything to do with the mind back then - but it is now don't you think? Happy days :)
"When an old cricketer leaves the crease, well you never know whether he's gone, If sometimes you're catching a fleeting glimpse of a twelfth man at silly mid-on, And it could be Geoff, and it could be John, with a new ball sting in his tail, And it could be me, and it could be thee, and it could be the sting in the ale, Sting in the ale."
I've been going to live gigs for 35+ years, seen lots of great musicians in rock, metal folk bands...this man tops them all. You must see him live!!!
He is so very similar to his father, especially the voice. Damn good video
I've got to be honest. I think he far outstrips his pa'.
@BevisFriend2010 Just brilliant! I've seen similar antics! Can I see the pictures please?
Yes...I play guitar as well......but nothing like "AS WEll AS THE MAIN MAN...NICK HARPER." Will go and see him again soon in Marborough Area.! "Thanks for giving me ... "Blue Sky Dreaming" ..... my anthem to a new world...after losing my wife and going to Philipppines for 3 years.!! Back in UK to see Nick again.!!! Mickey .Marlboro'
@MobyD1 My favourite live artist Unfortunately the last time I saw him was full of folk club members,Who just sat there like cardboard cut-outs.
Tilly tot Quality lol
@Bondinski That's debatable.
Nick is still a brilliant talent and I am always interested in his song content and his style of delivery. Always a pleasure to meet him from time to time. Wish he could come here to the Philippines where I am in a band of good older muisicians They also appreciate wonderful talent. Mickey From Marlborough.
