I think the definition of based has gotten lost. The REAL based thing to do is call for the doctor of the autopsy report to testify to expose Edgeworth as the fraud he is. And then Phoenix should be with Gumshoe instead, since he is a lot more direct and loving. Based is Phoenix letting go of his superficial nature and be with an actual great guy who will treat him well
Don't you remember Phoenix and Edgeworth's lore and the reasons they became lawyers? Edgeworth would treat Phoenix like a princess for sure. Or perhaps the other way around.

I'm pretty sure it mostly has to do with how drawn out the conclusion of the last case is. Personally, I don't see that as an issue since it works well with the story, but a lot of people dislike it.

i don't share all the same issues other people do, but i do hate how drawn out aai-5 is, and i think cases 2 and 3 are extremely boring and tedious as well. some of the leaps of logic and moments where you need to present evidence in case 3 especially are stupid - i think jelloapocalypse's two videos about the first game are generally in line with my thoughts. also the logic system is stupid - it's all extremely obvious 99% of the time and makes it feel like literally everyone else aside from edgeworth is an idiot for not being able to put 2 and 2 together. i think aai-1 and aai-4 are fantastic, and aai-5 starts strong and ends very very very frustrating. these are my thoughts as of now, but i will be replaying the game for the first time in a while once the collection comes out, so i will have a chance to revise my opinions then
