    I wished I had watched this video before I started to swap out the seat. Anyway, just bought a used Specialized Ruby, but for this particular seatpost clamp, I had no idea that I shouln't be completely taking out the hex nut. As a result, the wedge thingy has fallen into the frame. I was able to chase it around the tubes innitially, but now it's wedged, Stuck, SILENCED even when I violently shake the bike. I guess I'm going to have to open up the bottom bracket. **arrgh**

    Oh huge thanks for this! It worked perfectly. I didn't think it did at first because on the outside nothing obvious had changed, but my seatpost was able to move much more freely.

    This video was super helpful. Seeing the mechanism holding the seat post into the frame was key in figuring how to loosen it and get the seat post out. You saved me a lot of time and energy. Thanks for the video.

  • @jamesainsworth5711
    @jamesainsworth5711 Před 9 měsíci

    Another option... Once the bolt is loosened as far as it can go, without it detaching from the wedge, try giving the seat a good firm twist from side to side rather than trying to pull it up.

    You deserve some kind of humanitarian award for this video mate. Just loosen that hex screw a bit and then a gentle tap on top (I used the end of a screwdriver) and voila!

  • @j3ah0o
    @j3ah0o Před rokem

    I tried tapping but got no luck. Holding the triangle and putting forward pressure to the seat, I got a pop and the seat post happily slid out.

    What did you use to help it loosen it up. I’ve tried hitting the bolt with a hammer. I’m being careful when hitting it with a hammer. Did you use some liquid to help loosen it up? I’ve tried 3-in-1d oil. Any ideas?

    • @physi_inq_engadine_sutherland
      @physi_inq_engadine_sutherland Před rokem

      I'm no mechanic. But I just gave it a decent wack with the hammer. (disclaimer that I'm not a mechanic though! Do so at your own rist)

    Didn’t work for me. Tapped sharply a number of times and the wedge actually loosened but the seat post remains stuck fast. Will have to think of something else.

  • @rastamangr8378
    @rastamangr8378 Před rokem

    Perfect! Excellent video. Yes, it is that simple. Also, if it helps, when I tapped the wedge/clamp, I heard a click from the wedge/clamp -- as if I had knocked something loose -- and it turned out that that was the sound that told me my seat post was ready to be easily moved.

  • @longerranger

    Many thanks for this. New bike (well new to me), Bianchi Outré XR4, and could not budge the seatpost until following your instuctions. A firm tap with a small hammer on the partially unscrewed bolt released the clamp :0)

    For all the clowns talking about range of motion, the only thing you need to do to improve cycling power is improve neuromuscular power in your legs. This can be trained from so many different types of exercises, and then converted to cycling specific muscle after, when riding. The range of motion specifically targets muscles that CAN help with your power and core, but are not essential., because you can supplement them using other exercises, or more importantly, through riding, which is by far the best training anyway.

    • @physi_inq_engadine_sutherland
      @physi_inq_engadine_sutherland Před rokem

      100% it's simply increasing the neuromuscular drive without increasing muscle mass. Which is a WIN for endurance athletes. Also agree about actually riding being the best training. I encourage people to not spend time doing a strength program for cycling performance until they're riding 8+ hours per week. Also, here's the blog link that I recorded this video for if you're interested. www.physioinqengadine.com.au/blog/half-squats-for-endurance
