Riders can catch the last big fish of the year in the 'Race of the Falling Leaves'. Who will strike on the course that leads over almost 240 kilometres from Como to Bergamo? Most of the four and a half thousand metres in altitude are in the last 145 kilometres.
After the start in Como, the riders head to Asso to tackle the first climb of the day. This is the Madonna del Ghisallo, but it is not tackled from Bellagio as usual. The famous climb is also much easier from this side: 8.8 kilometres at 3.9%.
After the descent, the route continues along Lake Como. Apart from a 2.7 kilometre climb at 6.5%, this part of the route is flat. This changes shortly after Almenno San Bartolomeo at the beginning of the climb to Roncola. This is 9.4 kilometres long and climbs at an average of 6.6%. The beginning and the end are not very steep, but the middle section is quite steep - between 8 and 10%. At the top, the riders have over 100 kilometres behind them.
Immediately after the descent, an easier climb awaits. The road to Berbenno climbs for 6.8 kilometres at an average of 4.6%. And it's nice and steady.
After the descent, the route follows the valley of the Brembo river upstream for 10 kilometres and shortly after the water town of San Pellegrino, the Passo della Crocetta begins, a juggernaut of 11 kilometres at 6.2%. After a short descent, the road climbs again for 1.4 kilometres at over 7%. An almost flat section then leads to a 2.5 kilometre climb at 7% to Zambla Alta. This is the highest point of the route at 1,257 metres.
In Zambla Alta there are still just under 65 kilometres to go. We can tick off the first 25 right away, because they lead almost exclusively into the Serio Valley. The river leads directly to Bergamo, but not the riders. Once again, the road goes uphill for a long time. The Passo di Ganda is 9.2 kilometres long and has an average gradient of 7.3%. The last 3.2 kilometres are the steepest with almost 10%.
After 16 kilometres, the riders fly back into the valley. It would be easy to ride straight to the finish on Viale Roma in Bergamo. But the riders don't get away that easily. A winding climb along the city leads them up Colle Aperto, a 1.6-kilometre climb at 7.9%, 4.5 kilometres before the finish. Through the narrow Porta Garibali they ride over rounded cobblestones - Italian cobblestones, so to speak - into the old town. The road continues to climb for a while and after more than 3 kilometres the descent to the finish line begins.
The course is pretty much a copy of two years ago. Back then, Tadej Pogacar countered an attack by Vincenzo Nibali on the Passo di Ganda. A group with Adam Yates, Julian Alaphilippe, Alejandro Valverde, Michael Woods, Romain Bardet, David Gaudu, Jonas Vingegaard, Primoz Roglic and Fausto Masnada opened the chase. Of this group of nine, only the latter managed to pass on the descent, while the rest did not get closer than half a minute in the valley. Arriving in Bergamo, Masnada did not manage to catch up with Pogacar. "

How do you make these!? What kind of software? Im working on a school project and would like to learn!
Hi, I use Cinema 4D with paid plugins, Redshift, two powerful graphics cards, Python, After Effects and an editing program. Everything except Python costs quite a lot of money. In this respect, I unfortunately doubt that it is feasible for a school project in this way. Best regards.

Angliru? Three likely alternatives: ~ an inconsequential break (no serious GC contenders) wins the Stage, with a GC peloton arriving at their leisure; ~ a break with GC contenders, forces a GC chase, but still wins; ~ the GC contenders catch up to the break, and this epic climb reshuffles the top 5 GC contenders. So can Sepp "control" his own teammates, or will he? Will they (Jonas and Primoz) support Kuss or bury him (like Caesar?)... Tomorrow will tell us.

Will Remco offer some "payback" on Stage 8? At this point he must be wary of a JV "tag-team" doing short accelerations, as they did against Tadej in the 2022 TdF... and just stay with them for another week. Then he could go nuts 🎉😂 But it'd be fun to see Sepp become The Leader, and have his two GC favorites as domestiques... ❤

Excellent animation. These animations should be used as part of larger TV programs, so get your 'marketing dept.' on it! SUGGESTIONS & FEEDBACK: As amazing as the animation was, there's always something that can be tweaked. The moving dot brightness is great BUT it's SO bright and it was actually blinding me from looking at it, since I'm watching on an HDTV in a dark room. (I thought being 'blinded' could only happen with real sunlight.) Second, the count-down distance meter is normal because we're used to seeing that on the French TV coverage of the Tour. But the count-down elevation meter is WEIRD because it starts on the lowlands with a very high number and many viewers will think that the race is starting on an altiplano (high plateau) before they figure out at the end that's it's a reverse elevation meter. At least, that's what happened to me. Don't believe one person, however. Take a tablet to a shopping centre and ask 20 random people to watch the video and tell you what the changing numbers mean. Domani prevedo un attacco congiunto di Primoz Roglic dela Jumbo Visma e Geraint Thomas della INEOS Grenadiers sul belga Remco Evenepoel della Lotto Soudal, Remco è già caduto due volte nella tappa di ieri con arrivo a Salerno, ha dolori ai glutei e pare non sia riuscito a dormire bene, sta soffrendo per cui domani sicuramente i suoi diretti avversari in classifica proveranno sicuramente ad attaccarlo sulla salita finale tra Santo Stefano di Sessanio e Campo Imperatore. Su c'è la neve, non è stata tolta tutta dai mezzi spazzaneve, l'arrivo sarà in quota ai 2135 metri, temperatura prevista 3-4°C, per cui è stato consigliato ai cicloamatori e cicloturisti che raggiungeranno il traguardo per vedere l'arrivo dei ciclisti, di indossare indumenti pesanti, nonostante siamo a Maggio inoltrato. Sarà uno spettacolo vedere tutto da casa! ❤

Penso anch'io che ci saranno degli attacchi nei suoi confronti dopo le difficoltà di caduta di Remco e sono curioso di vedere se Thomas o Hart è il migliore sulla montagna di INEOS. Oppure vedremo un Evenepoel che non si preoccupa ed è semplicemente il più forte, anche con il dolore? Penso che sia possibile, soprattutto nella prima settimana del Giro.
