Thank you!!
thank you very much, very helpful!!
Hello from New Zealand!
Thanks so much for tuning in from so far away!
So nice. I set it up in the morning and found the video just. I think I found my everyday streets recipe. Beautiful colors.
That is so good to hear! Don’t forget to share your favourite three with us!
Salgado's recipe!!!
Hey Marco! These recipes are all @FujiXWeekly recipes.
I agree @dan.allen.digital another round of awesomeness 🎉
Great recipes! I'm currently shooting on the PRO Negative 160C recipe (Pro Neg Hi version) and loving both the versatility and colors! Also, since you've asked for questions... here's one I haven't figured out and would love if you could address in an upcoming video. When it comes to the sharpening control, do negative numbers actually *soften* the in-camera jpeg/heif? Or, does this refer to a minimal amount of sharpening applied? I've heard it explained both ways.. thanks in advance!!
Hey Randy! That’s awesome to hear. Can’t wait to see your images! Great question! There is no such thing as negative sharpening even though the numbers may make you think otherwise. This means that -4 is just the smallest amount of sharpening applied. You could possibly think of zero as a “normal” amount and +4 the most amount of sharpening. Not sure if it makes sense but that’s how I think of it. I hope this helps!
If you want to achieve something that resembles a “soft” look, you could work with negative clarity.
Congrats Guys, all nice recipes!
Great images everyone!
thanks for the material but I wish Nathalie could be on mute
My canon camera tended to oversaturate reds in flower picts, perhaps from its appeal to flesh tones being overworked. In Lightroom I would reduce the luminance in red and a few other colors. I recall when I first got a fuji (xt3), chrome Fx helped my images from looking to “electronic” and more filmic. I wish fuji had a way to make our additive RGB color in digital look more subtractive like film.
Nice pictures. It's just a shame that they aren't full screen so we can see them better.
Do you have the link for the film simulations overview please. 🙏
Hey Chris! I think you are referring to this page. Correct? fujifilm-x.com/en-us/exposure-center/get-to-grips-with-film-simulation-modes/
Thanks Nathalie & Ritchie for your insights. I'm in the same camp as Ritchie on this .. placed an order but still contemplating whether I want to go through with the purchase. Thanks again
... curious to hear how this story unfolds!
Just watching now and got surprised and triggered by Joss Besnier’s shout out to the Kodak Portra 800 v3 😮 Very interesting and catching my attention ❤
That's great! Have fun with it! Looking forward to seeing some of your results on Instagram!
Sorry i missed the show. I locked myself in a closet to keep me from ordering the X100vi😂
😅
😂 Dan, you have much better self control than me. I got up on the middle of the night to preorder. Feeling like a drug addict.
Oh dear... 🤭... well, this is totally acceptable and understandable!
As a kid (10-16 yeras old) I do remember sending the k64 rolls by paper enveloppe and receiving the slides, all excited, 2-3 weeks later by mail, in a plastic yellow box. My father had an old Yashica electro-35 rangefinder... cheers from Montreal
What a lovely memory! Thank you for sharing and thank you for supporting our channel!
Thanks for another great episode and recipe. Got fuji camera recently and will definitely give it a go. I had tested only few of the recipes so far and really enjoyed the results of them all. I do have one question - From my understanding, both 1976 Kodak and 1970 Summer are developed after same Kodak period. Do you think you could try to summarize major differences between those two recipes their and prefered use cases?
Hi Larissa! Thank you so much for watching and welcome to the Fujifilm family! We are so happy to hear tat you are enjoying shooting with recipes! Great question. We will ask our two experts to have a think and get back to you with their answers!
The 1976 Kodak Recipe is specifically modeled after Joel Meyerowitz prints from (mostly) 1976. He shot on various films, including Kodachrome, but his darkroom process was involved, and the printing played a big role in the outcome. 1970's Summer is also an American New Color era look, although more generically (not specifically modeled after Meyerowitz). It's reminiscent of color prints from that era. They're both warm, and generally meant for sunny daylight conditions, although 1976 Kodak has more versatility than 1970's Summer. McCurry Kodachrome is modeled after scans of the last roll of Kodachrome, so it definitely looks significantly different. I hope this answers your question.
Could please recommend recipe for overcast ☁️/ rain
Thank you so much for popping in! May I refer you to an article in which I deal with exactly that topic: blog.nathalieboucry.com/rainy-days-never-looked-so-good/ I hope it will help you!
@NathalieBoucry Thanks a lot Nathalie x

Hello there! Thank you so much for stopping by and thanks a stack for the comment and the like 🤟 Your feedback is super helpful! Thank you.
@@NathalieBoucry No problem! Keep it rolling!
Hello, newbie here 😅
hey there! Thank you so much for stopping by!
How straight out of cam has an image to be to be called "SOOC"? I'm shooting JPEG using recipes but doing some adjustments in Lightroom, is this stil SOOC? For me it is kind of SOOC, because (mostly) the only thing in Lightroom is applying "automatic" in the basic development panel and adding a vignette. This is applied automatically during import, so for me it is kind of SOOC.
Thanks so much for stopping by and for your comment. That’s a really good question. Strictly speaking straight out of camera is straight out of camera. The point is to cut out the computer / editing from your workflow and the idea of using recipes with your jpegs is to get them looking so good that you can share them straight from your camera to your phone and with the rest of the world. Having said that there’s no official SOOC police and you can do whatever works for you which by the sounds of it you do. And that’s great too. You are definitely most welcome to upload your images like that for our viewers‘ slideshow. Above that I would recommend to mention “slight edits in LR“, when you share images like that to platforms that aim specifically at SOOC jpegs, so that people that are looking for reference images for a particular recipe look know what they are looking at.
@@NathalieBoucry Thank you very much for your detailed answer.
Personally, I still consider SOOC a picture if all I need is to straighten and crop
I missed it! Was the live earlier than usual?
So sorry Enrico 😢 We streamed at the same time (19:00 GMT+2) but I think you are on daylight saving time and turned clocks back by an hour last week. Is that possible?
@@NathalieBoucry yes, that's it .... Anyway, I followed the episode just after it finished, I'm eager to test the Reala Ace recipe in XT4 "flavour"!
What a nice slideshow of pictures!
👏 *Promo sm*
It’s funny I came over to Fuji for the film simulations and never use them. 😂. Just don’t find them anywhere near as good as editing my own.
same here, they are in all frankness, very gimmicky especially since the camera raw engine has limited parameters to control tonal values and lacks color curves. Having said so, the only 2 simulations I find useful are classic chrome, acros and classic negative. The rest are honestly just garbage!

Hi all Rob in the Netherlands

So cool! Thank you guys very much!!!
Thank you for fixing the Slideshow! 🤩
Thanks for letting us know about that so we could catch it quickly!

Thank you 🙂. I watched it on Friday and was impressed by some really fantastic photos. Maybe we all can dive deeper in the b/w recipes after that great show about b/w 🙂
Great stuff! Hopefully the discussion has been helpful! We look forward to everyone's submissions!
Great show! I loved the example images and explanations about the strengths/weaknesses of these B&W recipes.
That's awesome. Thank you so much for your feedback!
Interesting and useful information - thank you.
Thanks for the feedback. So happy to hear.
Hi. I’m enjoying watching the recording! Heading off on a 3-week cruise later in the year so this is a useful video. 👍🏻 Nathalie - what is the storage device you used for downloading from an SD card? Sounds a sensible thing to do!
Hey Richard! I am super happy to hear that you enjoyed this episode and find the info useful. Sounds like you are getting ready for an amazing trip! We loved using our portable hard drive during our trip. It worked like a bomb. It seems though that Western Digital no longer makes this particular device. There are other manufacturers that make a similar product, like this one from SSK for example: www.amazon.com/SSK-Personal-External-Wireless-Auto-Backup/dp/B08J488MZP/ref=sr_1_4?keywords=external%2Bhard%2Bdrive%2Bwith%2Bsd%2Bcard%2Breader&qid=1689927561&sr=8-4&th=1 I haven't used it so I can't vouch for it but it seems very popular. Another one is more like an SD card reader on steroids that can transfer files but requires an additional SSD to store them: www.amazon.com/NewQ-Filehub-AC750-Travel-Router/dp/B09T9QKQH7/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=external+hard+drive+with+sd+card+reader&qid=1689927561&sr=8-3 which is great if you already have a portable SSD or a particular brand you trust. I would probably go with this one as I own Samsung SSDs I trust and use all the time. I hope this helps! Hopefully until next week Thursday for the Q&A part of our Travel Photography Edition!
