Rest In Power to Benjamin Zephaniah, I am wonderfully grateful to have known him as a mentor, freedom fighter and friend. He was loved by many and chose to dedicate his life to standing up for the lives of many individuals harmed by systemic oppression. Thank you for all your work and inspiration. I will take all that you taught and continue the path of truth, light and peace. Big love. This is...
Joe gilgun you are the younger me pretty much. I have BPD and dyslexia I’m almost 50. I struggled all my life. I don’t like to be around people I like to be on my own most of the time.
I needed this
So thankful to Joe & Edith for this interview. I've been fucking with depression for a few years now, those are the words that all of us needed. I've never related to anyone more than to Joe. Wholeheartedly admire all the honesty and simple truth from this lad. I wish in our world nowadays would be more people like him, more kindness, more love❤ I wanna hug everyone, who's struggling here. We're not alone, guys. Sending love to y'all from Russia❤
Guy was simply sublime in Lockout (2012) and The Infiltrator (2016), among other stellar performances
This is such an amazing interview. Thank you
What a lovely interview with a fascinating man. I have my own problems and today is not a great day, but this really helped me. Thank you.
Thank you both I needed that & am sure I’m not alone.
You’re alright Joe it’s taken me till 40 to come to form some form of acceptance. Spent years bitching about been dealt a bad hand now I’m just working on how to play the cards I’ve been dealt. Thanks for been you 🤛
I got diagnosed with ADHD now, at 37. I've been living with my thoughts pinballing in my brain for nearly 4 decades, moods swinging like crazy, absurd impulsive decisions (i'm covered in tatts, and one REALLY SUCKS but it was the spur of the moment, heh) and abrasive anger, and self destructive attitude that i don't even perceive as such, literal panic everytime the phone rings 'cause I don't know what the person on the other side was, or could want (i still ask everyone to message me instead of calling) and it scares me. I forgot 17 whole months of my life cause i had a huge breakdown and can't remember a single thing, only that i'm still scared of my couch 'cause I know i spent most of my time vegetating there (just imagine a 37 YO scared of a damn couch). I'm the "smart kid that doesn't apply to her studies", like many kids are, and I still have to learn on my own a fuc*load of things like what a BPD reaction is , or why the heck I spent last morning crying my eyes out while asking myself why the heck I was crying my eyes out. We need information, we need actual diagnosis and we need to understand that getting through daily life with a brain that's constantly trying to sabotage you is a fucking nightmare, so we're not weak at all, and maybe we're not that broken either, it's just that what surrounds us is often too...rigid? Is this the right word? Not adaptable? I don't know. And now i gotta feed the cat or that gremlin's gonna eat me for dinner, also sorry for any mistake but English ain't my first language.
That was an excellent watch x
Speaking as somebody with BPD who has a mum with BPD and also a sister with BPD for years I've been searching to find somebody who would understand me I gave up hope and then boom JOE GILGUN!!!! If I had a way to say thank you to you I would. I've always wanted to be an actor but thought there's no way as I can be so anti social but after watching you I've actually enrolled in uni.....all thanks to you. You're a very remarkable human being thank you so much for being so vulnerable and honest x
So many kids who mess about at school are neuro diverse. I've met many kids labelled disruptive who actually have adhd or autism. One kid couldn't read or write but when I asked him to tell me a story he had the most amazing imagination.
Just one question… why have sofas if your not going to use them ?
Wow😮 Joe, I share your BPD and ADHD. Suffered for years and diagnosed at 52. You describe your experience of life and others exactly as I see it. I’ve been a mental health professional but I’d feel it would be impactful to show my kids this video and then chat about it. Thank you 🙏 and yes it’s a fight
Joe is an amazing actor and person love watching him in what ever he stars in I hope they keep brassic going for many more year's to come I would love to have a part in it much love brother ❤️
The more I listen and see Joe, the more I understand that I want to be close to him, love and support him! But I don’t understand at all how to find it......
Absolutely love Joe gilgun and his honesty. Wish there were more humans in the World like this..... ❤
That guy, sitting on the floor of his house to receive an invited, full of tatoos, with a cap indoors, is a specialist in mental health? Are you kidding?
Hey! I hope you're well - Joe Gilgun is a specialist in his own mental health and that's exactly why 'Live The Buzz' features him. Representation for an individual with Bipolar Disorder, Dyslexia and ADHD, who has won BAFTAs is important to inspire young people with similar diagnoses to dream big. Let me know if you have any further questions so I can clarify any concerns.
Joe the best 👍
I fucking love Joe Gilgun.
And Edith, seriously good work. I come back to this interview again and again. Thank you, thank you!!
Joe ❤ I could talk to you for hours. We’d do each other’s heads in 😂 You have explained everything I feel and have felt to a T. And I single parent fulltime… it is HARD with this crazy head of mine. Loving your work ❤
amazing video love from canada
Humans are just a long chain of people that have no idea how and why they feel something, do something. We're all fugged up in different ways.
Absolutely loved this
Listened to every word - I just luv Joe, he’s honest and open. Great insight, thank you ❤
He’s an actual guru .. what the fuck ..
He is incredible , thank gosh he exists .. most authentic person next to myself I’ve ever seen
Fuck, I’ve never empathized so much with an internet stranger. Joe, my dude, I feel a lot of what you say, especially the part about feeling like lots of work for other people. Thank you for using your platform to talk about mental health and promoting emotional intelligence. I’ve seen your work, and you’re talented as fuck. I wish you nothing but the best. Also thank you Edith for this interview, this channel, and the organization. I’m not in the UK, but your work is so important. Keep it up and take care.
Love him in preacher
What a lovely human
I’m diagnosed with bipolar disorder and when I am at my lowest point I come to this video and try to relate to someone going through the same thing it’s so hard to understand that you’re not on your own and this video helps me beyond belief if it wasn’t for Joe and this video I quite possibly wouldn’t be here
Thank you for sharing how helpful this video is to you in your harder moments. Big love💜
I 100% agree that schools should be doing more emotional education, I know it would of massively benefited me, especially with everything like hormones, making friends etc going on
I could listen to him for days .
“I’m anti social, I’m prickly, but I love people” that’s exactly me. Wow. He’s right, it feels good to know you’re not alone and not as weird as you think.
Same. 😅
I’ve admired him since This is England came out and for over a decade, I’ll watch anything he’s in. I’d absolutely love to just talk to him all day and all night long. He’s an utterly fascinating person. Seth Rogan said he was the most interesting person he’d ever met.

Amazing interview , well done to the lady too , please tell Joe that brassic has had a profound affect on me, it's so deep, it makes more sense now I've heard your interview with him, I feel that he's too down on himself and he is truly a gift to us all xxx
Ooooo just got to the tattoos in the head segment, and it is very relatable, I've had tattoos to relieve urges to self harm before, too. Bless you joe xxx
My goodness, this film has been wonderful, I love brassic, especially Joe's character. I'm dyslexic, autistic, and most likely adhd, I feel like he's a kindered spirit, part of my tribe xxx
I love this guy x
