Kind of the same with cats. When pregnant and obviously in need they can be completely trusting. In the human species a guy is apt to tell the expecting lady to 'F' Off. At least in my neck of the woods. I guess that's why they call them shotgun weddings.

Hey. We moved to the southeast a couple years ago and had a mulch pile to move. When digging around in it to load it for moving, I found one of these. He was blue, a silvery blue, and pretty. A little over a foot long and just wanted to get away. He ended up in the wagon so we watched for him while dumping him into the area we were filling. He scooted off through the grass and I followed him to a thick bunch of taller grasses and lost him. A couple of weeks later we were digging to remove some roots for planting some lettuces and found a couple of babies, less silver but more blue and pink. Very small, like two and five inches. I actually had cut the smallest one in half and felt awful about it. When we found the first one we hadn’t known what it was so looking it up almost didn’t realize it was a worm snake because the images all showed brown and pink and this one was so silvery blue, but I looked long enough til I found one showing the same coloring. I found them to be so very pretty and unique and now look for them and almost feel bad having to dig around in some spots even though when I dig I try to dig as shallowly and narrowly as I can. Thanks for sharing this as it was a neat reminder of our little slithering neighbor.
