    Does the Mac go to any king of ''recovery mode'' after turning off firevault, or does it requires any kind of password? I bought my Mac from someone else and I want to turn off firevault but I'm scared it's gonna ask me the past owner's password when the computer restarts after disabling it

    • @Mac_Ave
      @Mac_Ave Před 4 lety

      The Mac does not go into a recovery mode after turning off FileVault. As long as you are the administrator of the computer you have control over its data. If the Mac is attached to someone else’s Apple ID/iCloud account then they can put the Mac in lost mode which would prevent you from using the Mac.

    Do you still use the apple products for networking?

    • @Mac_Ave
      @Mac_Ave Před 4 lety

      Hi Paul, we still see many using the Apple AirPort for their wireless network. We have also seen people start to switch over to mesh networks with Eero or Google and turning their AirPort Time Capsules into network storage drives. We still believe the AirPort Time Capsule is the greatest network device. It’s ability to seamlessly connect to your Mac for Time Machine backups is unmatched. Anyone that has a working Time Capsule and is switching to a mesh network should keep their Time Capsule and connect it to the new network while turning off its wi-fi.

      Mac-Ave By Jessi Group, Inc. thanks - that was very helpful. So I have an Ethernet cable running to a express in the basement where it connects to my TV . If I want to add the orbi how does this express fit in? The basement does not receive WIFI very well at all without the direct cable to the express.

    • @Mac_Ave
      @Mac_Ave Před 4 lety

      If you are to upgrade to a mesh network then that will likely replace your existing AirPort devices. The Express can be used to make a device that doesn't have Wi-Fi built in wireless or you can connect it to some speakers to make them wireless via AirPlay. With a mesh router system you should be able to build up your network to reach your basement without the need for cables. Some houses are built differently so you may have to play around with the placement of your mesh routers to get the best coverage. AirPort devices don't always play nicely with other routers unless you turn the Wi-Fi broadcasting off on the AirPort. ie have it connect to the network to be accessible by other devices but not extending your network.

    • @Mac_Ave

      I don't know what to tell you. Are you sure your running OS X on your computer? The instructions say to go to the "Go" menu and select Applications from there instead of going through a Finder window because a Finder window is customizable and may be different for each user.

    • @Mac_Ave
      @Mac_Ave Před 6 lety

      Yes, if you are enabling two-factor authentication on an iPhone and use that iPhone's phone number as the verification number with text message verification it will automagically enter the code for you. Strange though that it is stuck "verifying". I notice it has been about 20 hours since your comment. Has the problem resolved itself? or are you still having issues

    • @kingnevermore25
      @kingnevermore25 Před 6 lety

      Mac-Ave By Jessi Group, Inc. Well i already had a two factor authentication on and everything was fine the first time i went through this process, verifying went perfect just like in the video. But after that i needed to turn it off and then turn it back on so this thing happened. Its weird because I received an email saying "your 2FA is on" and it really was on because it asked for verification code before logging in to Apple ID account on my pc. But for some reason the "verifying" was still on the screen of my phone. I just exited the settings and everything was fine, im kinda worried though i dont want to have any verification problems or something...

    • @Mac_Ave
      @Mac_Ave Před 6 lety

      Very Strange it could just be a glitch within your settings on your iPhone. It appears based on your explanation that everything is working properly on the iCloud side of things which is really all that matters. If it keeps saying "Verifying" on your iPhone in settings, even after a full reboot then I would recommend contacting Apple Support by chat or phone just to make sure nothing more wrong is happening. Better to be safe than sorry especially when it comes to 2FA.

    • @kingnevermore25

      Mac-Ave By Jessi Group, Inc. Btw i wanted to ask something. So i will buy a new iphone soon, and i will move my sim card from my current phone to a new one and then i will proceed to restore backup from itunes, my question is how will the 2FA work now when my sim card will be located in my new phone which will be completely empty because before i can restore everything from the itunes i will need to log in to my Apple ID and F2A will automatically therefore ask for a verification code, how will that work on my brand new phone which doesnt even have anything in it, how am i even supposed to get a text message (since i still havent backed it up). You see how confusing this is, should i just turn off F2A and turn it back on when i set up my new phone in order to avoide unnecessary complications?

    • @Mac_Ave
      @Mac_Ave Před 6 lety

      There is no need to turn off 2FA. Apple has already thought about the upgrade process for people with and without 2 trusted Apple devices. That being said when you transfer your SIM card to the new iPhone and attempt to sign into your Apple ID it will ask for a 2FA Code. If at that time you don’t have another trusted device you can tap on “don’t have a trusted device” (or something similar). It will then ask you to select a verification method, at that time you select “Text (trusted phone number)” and it will automatically text that number. If that number is tied to your SIM card in the new iPhone it will be automatically inputted for you like it did when you were setting up 2FA the other day.

      Usually System Preferences will tell you why FileVault has paused progress. Please make sure that your computer (laptop) is connected to the charger while it is decrypting. FileVault won't decrypt your data while exclusively on battery power, this limits the chance of unexpected power failure and data corruption.

      If the drive is currently being encrypted you will unfortunately need to wait for all files to finish encrypting before you can turn off FileVault/decrypt the drive. Letting FileVault finish its encryption process before turning it off is a way for your mac to help prevent errors and possible data loss.

    • @Mac_Ave
      @Mac_Ave Před 7 lety

      Good question! Normally we see computers ask for you to either enable or disable FileVault after an upgrade but we are under the impression that the computer doesn't currently have FileVault enabled. Either way it won't pose any direct advantage if your only real reason for upgrading your OS (ex. 10.11 -> 10.12) is to turn FileVault off. If you are doing an OS Update within the same OS (ex. 10.12.2 -> 10.12.6) I would recommend doing that anyway for security and performance improvements.
