    it sounds nasty! That is a way to find issues, so use a mechanics stethoscope to pinpoint exactly what bearings or bushings are sqealing like they are misaligned. Kinda sounds like all of them, to me, mixed with some chain noise. I think you seed a spring chain tensioner & a little chain slop to allow slight motor misalignment, and to clean the reel bearings (or fit bearigs if they are bushings), and you might want to add a small flywheel to dampen motor for cutting stresses. Good luck, I'm about to attempt something similar.

    This is great! I am actually in the process of doing my initial conversion to my Fiskars, however, I’m having a heck of a time getting the rear/large sprocket off. I had zero issues with the small sprocket on the reel, but the large just won’t loosen. Any suggestions? My mower is in great shape, and I’ve seen other posts saying the large sprocket is much tougher to remove than the smaller one, but nothing has worked for me yet. Any advice is much appreciated!

    Great job, looking forward to seeing it cutting. This may be a dumb question but could you use the mower without the motor drive turned on, even with the chain attached? Or would that be bad turning the motor when its not activated.

    Do you have a parts list and source for the parts?

    I did almost the same thing with my mower but I am noticing the blade stops or slows with thick grass. I am using the same motor as you so there is plenty of power. Is there a clutch or something that needs to be removed to make the blade not go into a free spin?

    Did you have trouble with the rear sprocket set screw? Front came off no issue, the rear on the other hand won’t budge. I’ve sprayed PB Blaster, tried a number of different combinations of hex wrenches, torque wrenches, etc….no luck.

    I’ve watched a few of these videos, do you think this would be possible to do with an an electric Ryobi weed eater, I take a used Ryobi weed eater strip the externals and essentially it’s a battery with a speed regulator and motor. From there, figure a way to mount and attach the motor into the chain?

    • @chriswebbtech
      @chriswebbtech Před 10 měsíci

      I was thinking the same, but the weed eater doesn't have any torque at all. It has that cut off when it gets resistence. Might be able to bypass the peice that cuts the power for that I guess haven't dug too much into it, but still wonder if it has enough torque power or not.

    Nice, what height can you get it down too? Also need to share / sell the plan for the plate so we can order one!

      @kenkinal278 Před 11 měsíci

      I can get down to about 1/2" with the smaller wheels I put on front. I'll see if I can make a drawing for the plate. It does depend on which electric motor is used.

    Does your motor run warmn to hot after mowing ? And how much for your bracket only ?

    • @kenkinal278
      @kenkinal278 Před 11 měsíci

      No, I just cut the lawn yesterday ad it was about 90 degF and it ran fine. I had a machinist at my work site cut the plate for me.

    Did you have a template for the mounting plate, or a list of parts you used?

    • @kenkinal278
      @kenkinal278 Před 11 měsíci

      Yes, I created a template from a piece of cardboard and located the motor and holes using that. The bolts to mount the plate were just longer versions of the 8mm bolts on the original mower. The bolts to mount the motor were sized based on the motor I bought.

      Thanks Matt, I'll post a video of it cutting the lawn next. We have a machine shop at work. One of the mechanics cut it for me from a cardboard template I made.
