My dad passed away and we drank a bottle of Blanton his favorite whiskey

I'm not a connoissure, I am not an expert ....what I can say is Eagle Rare by BT is one of the best bourbons on the planet. For me personally it's beyond brilliant and such a great great whiskey to share with friends. Eagle Rare is not something I would mix anything with , IMO putting it in a cocktail would be sacrilege.

Watching in 2024, still can’t reliably find a bottle of b trace at any stores in Virginia, been this way for over four years now. Was a fan, but hard to be a fan when the company doesn’t make enough for its customer demand.

I was working as a Sous Chef in 1989 when the GM said hey stop by the office on the way out. We usually would talk about the day and taste several wines for various reasons or occasionally a 21 yr Macallen a customer gave us. This night he had a Blanton’s and we decided to add it to the list. He was more impressed than I was as I remember. I thought it drank hot and lacked complexity. Our well bourbon was Weller Antique 107 so we tasted them side by side and I finally saw the added complexity of the complexity and the differences in the 4 bottles of Blantons the rep left for samples. Still I was unimpressed. So that 1989ish fast forward to today and I am an avid Bourbon drinker (shake my head at the crazy prices) and I now love some Blanton’s.

Freddie's old fashioned root beer is definitely in my root beer hall of fame for sure... I mix it with a shot of amaretto sometimes and it's really good

My favorite place

I have been collecting whiskey for many years I went hard on it in 1991 my whole issue with the Buffalo Trace that I've been drinking since the late '80s something has happened somewhere somehow down the road something changed? When I pull an old dusty out of Elmer t or blatton's from the early '90s or even weller antique vein bottles something's just different whether it was the wood The tree quality? Or grain quality in the last couple of years or so quality has dropped and it's not just me it's everyone I talk to in everywhere I read people are not very happy with the quality of a lot of bourbons that are hitting the store floors it seems like they just out to pump out barrels and the quality has dropped? I'm sure there's some honey barrels that's the case in every distillery but seeing so many other distilleries out there doing amazing things and pumping out delicious juice I think it's time Buffalo Trace starts putting more into their mixing and sniffing and tasting into their bottling line I hope this don't get hated on I'm just a consumer one man's opinion.... Peace and love drink more bourbon

I'm here because of the book " Buffalo, Barrels and Bourbon". The history of Buffalo trace. The book covers quite a bit more American history than I was expecting. Interesting history on Buffalo trace and all its previous owners. It was one of the few distilleries that stayed open and kept producing during the 13 years of prohibition and Survived the largest flood ever on the Kentucky River. If you like spirits and american history..give it a read. 😀

I really love Eagle Rare 10. It's probably my favorite bourbon. I would love to taste the Double Eagle!!!!!!! Hint....

Interesting but this tells me that this will never be something that I drink. Anything that is purposely made rare means I don’t need it. Having tasted Blantons gold and discovering that was great but very overhyped, this isn’t that important to me nor any other elusive purposely over hyper product.

In my role I can't say that????? Bottom line is warehouse C is the bonded warehouse. So anything labeled bonded is from warehouse C. The difference is the floors and age.

On the one hand, great video. Informative, well presented, etc. On the other, this is just horrible to watch someone else drink all these whiskeys that I will probably never even get to taste. 😀

Absolutely beautiful place that buffalo trace has built. It's funny to think when they say 20 year experiment, there are whiskies that people will never sample to see the results of the experiment.

I got to enjoy a trip to buffalo trace with freddie as my guide before I knew who he was. What a treat Freddie is knowledgeable as well as down right fun and a living legend make a point to go see him you will not regret it 👌
