Services sector in India is the largest component in India's GVA or GDP. It is also the fastest growing major sector and is expected to grow at 7.6% in the current year, the PMI index is at a very robust 61.2. We already have a situation where 5-6 companies control a huge capacity. Ultratech alone has built 40% of the new capacity commissioned last year. It total capacity is now in excess of 30% of the country's capacity. Similarly Adani controls a very large capacity. So it may look that way. We must however note that cement will always be sold within a small radius. Even though branding may bring a slight price advantage It is possible to create a local brand and sell cement. So, even though it looks like Ultratech and Adani will become increasingly dominant, it would always be possible for even single plant companies to operate. Also we have another 4-5 companies with significant multi-location capacity including, Shree Cement, JK Cement (including JK Lakshmi), Dalmia Cement, Ramco, India Cement and Birla Corp also have significant capacities and are profitable. Most have low debt. So they will survive independently, unless someone makes them an offer they cannot refuse.
