Madonna was extremely influential... all the girls started wearing skirts over tights because of her. There really wasn't a bigger star in the United States, she was on par with Michael Jackson. Everything she did was covered by the media and the tabloids. I was about 12 or 13 when Like a Virgin came out, had a huge crush on her, she was totally a guilty pleasure.

I am a 73 year old retired man who has been hearing this for the past few days on a SoFi commercial and it knocked my socks off. Had no idea who it was performed by and didn't care. I wanted to hear the whole song it impressed me that much. Found out it is co written by Angelina Jordan. I was not a fan and to be perfectly honest this is the first song I have heard by her and I am totally in love with her performance. What a phenomenally unique voice. She cannot be compared with anyone, she is basically her own genre. Why is this song not on the radios and playing like crazy right now? You don't have to know who sings it to be totally consumed by it. Amazing.

This song and tells a story, if you're a poor reader and you reading comprehension is sub-par, you'll have difficulty understanding a song that tells a story. He was a philanthropist and active in the struggle for Civil Rights for Black Americans in this country. You should be ashamed for not knowing who this man was.
