@darkrx777 and the cars reviewed in magazines and shows are NOT the real cars the owners built.... those are cars built by the production company

@darkrx777 and both of those had the stock motor in it and had the body kit duplicated and poorly painted and also poorly applied vinyl..... you dont see it cause they dont ever pan to it. One of the two was actually in a wreck and they decided to use it as a "fly through" car for a snippet of the race where they cut a whole section of the passenger side of the roof for the camera to glide and pan through.

@darkrx777 true, BUT, if you look the car up, its clearly a 3-rotor conversion. just like any movie with cars in it, the HERO car is the real deal car. all the other are clones with LESS than what you perceive it to have either for reasons of availability of the hero car, mechanical/electrical problems or collision. its pretty simple movie magic. the Hero car was only used for the meet at the industrial area, and at the starting line of the "5min race". two other FDs were used.......

@darkrx777 ever heard of a 3rotor IN PERSON with a high flow catalytic converter, resonated midpipe and a 3' long muffler? ya it sounds identical to the movie. just cause it doesnt sound like what youre used to doesnt mean its false. everyone on the internet is used to loud ass 3rotors with MAYBE a decently quiet exhaust get some experience with rotaries and you'll get to know every single pitch and character of each 20B exhaust note as well as 13Bs

@rotor13 What you "clearly" see in the movie, is an animation. Trust me, these are NOT rotary sounds. I drive one a regular daily basis and I know the sound of a rotary through and through. This is a piston engine sound, a large V6 or small V8. In the 3.5-4.0L range.

no.... they actually showed the actual engine in the car, only CG'd and enhanced for effects. The actual car has a 20B 3-rotor which if you put that part of the scene in super slow motion on your DVD player, you can clearly see 3 rotors in each of their different phases of the combustion cycle. And its just a fucking movie anyway.... get over it..... grow an imagination

thats either the sound of a 2J or a RB, probably they swapped the engine. But i never really understod why the heck they replaced the 13b engine when it sounds so amazing! :s

DUH.. NO of course... RX7 is sound is known, it's unique, you can tell it right away! in this video it sounds like a 1JZ!!!!!!! i don't know... But for sure it's not RX7's 13B or 20B...

The actual car had the stock 13b-rew in it. They had it for sale a while back. iT had minor bolt ons and ALOT of cosmetic mods as you can see lol. The engine bay actually looked like shit, dirty and all. THe rx7 sound was computer generated, as well with 3487384738 other sounds in that movie.

why didnt they use a rotary sound clip?? that would be better, first time i saw this movie i thought it has a 2jz swap

yeah, i faced this confusion a while ago. When they made the movie, the RX-7s exhaust noise didnt record well when they were recording the noises for the movie, so instead of using the sound clip they had for rotary, they used an automatic supra, they did the same thing in the 2nd movie, except it sounds like a civic

the 13b whines much more than that at lower rpm's like 6k or 7k ideally you want to shift aroung 8.5k, so no

well its a stunt car so its prolly manual, all this is done a green screen so vin diesel doesnt have to really know how to drive stick, just make it look good

for people that think its a 2jz automatic, im not sure abt wat engine but im betting its most likely an automatic coz most ppl wud know that vin diesel alredi admitted in an interview that he doesnt know how to drive a manual car =D

but when they show him injecting nitrous, not in that clip, they show the inside of the engines, the'res definitely no pistons in there. As for sound, thats not a rotary :P
