Well, at this moment I am 45 min through. Castlevania 3 is my favorite NES game. It looks great. Love the alucard, grant, and sypha animations. Trevor looks a little weird. I like how alucard’sattack is a little stronger. It was always so weak in the original. I like how the bosses look. I like that you play through a partner’s story before they join the group. I like that alucard follows you in his stage. I really enjoyed the background scenery in grant’s stand alone stage. A few questions: why is the holy water animation green? Seems an odd choice to me. What does Trevor say at the end of each stage? I can’t make it out. Why isn’t sypha hiding that she is a female?

glad they kept the music true to the original cus theres another simon quest remake with probably better graphics but most of the music wa sjust random heavy metal that was totally random and nothing similar to the original music at all which ruined the whole vibe for me cus growin up, half of the reason i loved simons quest was the music

Trevor saying "m'lady". I remember seeing lots of game (mostly IGA-era) fans complaining a lot about the show with one of the arguments being the characterisation of Trevor. They had this head canon that seems common that the game Belmonts were all super noble rich people types, the types who'd use "m'lady". And I always found that weird. The games and guidebooks specifically show Trevor to be uncouth and arrogant with Simon being a little more uncouth but less confident. That's consistent from the 8-bit days all the way through to Judgement, or Mirror of Fate, or Curse of Darkness. In fact Mirror of Fate is the only time Trevor has ever been presented as a knightly noble type. I understand that with these story-lite games people come up with lots of head canons, but a lot of the ways in which game hardcores imagine the series is pretty much baseless and seeing that continue to be reflected here just gave me motivation to comment on it.

Being able to get sll three play alongs instead of picking and choosing automatically got an A from me

4.5 Out of 10. Good things. Nice voice acting for a fan-made gamed. Stayed true to the overarching story. I like the additions of the "how did they get there" backstory levels. Frustrating things. Some of the sprites are odd. Sypha was perfect! Grant was mostly there, maybe needs to be a little more hunched forward. WTF happened to Trevor? His stance is bizarre almost always with his body facing the camera rather than a profile stride and his chicken legs. Dude totally skipped leg day at the gym. Alucard was the biggest offender. He was a tiny little drow boy most likely stolen from a Dungeons & Dragons side scroller. Adrian is in canon much taller than the rest of the crew but you made him a tiny boy. He is also hundreds of years old and his sprite shouldn't be any older or younger than his SotN presence as vampires don't age. (The original game series modeled Dracula and Alucard after the Bela Lugosi style of Dracula which was eventually abandoned for the anime "Hellsing" style found in Symphony of the Night.) Some of the frames of movement differ from character to character which is evident when they walk in the stage transitions. It's sad that the stage choices that were offered in the original don't exist in this version. Also fan remakes almost always use a gothic metal cover of the soundtrack which in most cases is a terrible version of the song where the melodies and harmonies created with a handful of 8-bit sound channels are an after-thought in the mess of distortion driven power chords. Mad Forest which is one of my favorite tracks from the original soundtrack was almost unrecognizable. The music needs a massive overhaul. Just sounded lazy.
