Lol didn't they run faster in the 70s.
This Carlos guy is a nut case. He is surrounded by yes men who don’t have the guts to tell him he sucks. It’s like the story the Emperor has no clothes.
This is the real way forward.
What about those oil tankers that produce more carbon emissions than all cars combined
Its all a lie haha they tryna go electric so that they can have a kill switch and control of your car (a lil bit like die hard) 😂🤣
The future is in alterative renewable energy. Meanwhile, conservatives want to revive coal.
Like Stephen hawkins said you can't engineer ourselves out of this...... So you could always ride a bicycle
PUBLIC TRANSPORT
Synthetic fuel still burn and and let out greenhouse gas. How stupid is it to try to switch petrol to synthetic. It's so stupid.
The glaring question is - what would be the cost of that fuel? The production cost, the environmental cost, the infrastructure cost. We shouldn't be nearly as reliant on cars as we are
Max was robbed before. Karma
Anyone ever notice Hammond looks like he could be Rod Stewarts love child.
If the synthetic fuel can be made cheaper and sold cheaper than regular fuel and have about the same energy density as regular fuel I am all for it.
There is nothing wrong with oil. We need it. Net Zero is anti-human.
Wow, a lot of disinformation to put it that way. Wonder how many experts agree with this, emphasizing on basis of physics, efficiency and ultimately cost!
Mention the price per litre then😂exactly
They want to eliminate private ownership of vehicles….when you realise the wef/who want you dead…. It all makes sense
So he is not only a funny TV show presenter 🤓
GREEN PERFECT EU ...GOING BACK ON NONSENSE TARGETS ....IM SHOCKED .
In 2035 it's over for the fossil fuel cars, just accept it
The hidden danger of electric cars is the strip mining to get the materials for the batteries. Nobody is talking about it and the destruction that it's currently causing.
Lies
ICE is dead. Electric will soon replace all.
I'm a huge fan of electric vehicles just not cars. You can't say there better for the environment because the batteries contain cobalt and rare earth minerals which caused tremendous damage to the environment and when you drive it unless you've got your own wind turbine your car is running on coal with a few more steps involved not very green.
Is pointless of what Tim is saying in this video he retired as the CEO of Dodge he knew no one was going to buy EV so he bounce, and left Dodge for good 😂
We need more carbon and less pollution. That is what the data suggest. We have some of the lowest levels of available carbon in recorded history due to entrainment and other factors. And the link between carbon and temperature change is very simply a myth. Check the charts, friends. Toxins are what we should be collectively fighting, not carbon.
Wrong. The only way is EV
Synthetic fuel production is inefficient and currently has only half the power density of fossil fuels
FYI for all the midwits in the comments who clearly have not got it: Richard Hammond is talking about Carbon Neutral fuels. In current parlance when talking about sustainable fuels, "synthetic fuels" is often used interchangeably with "carbon neutral fuels".
No one needs net zero. It's a scam that the public is paying for.
I love e85 and would deffo use e100 of it was available. More boost more fuel more power!
Hear hear, wise words if you truly 'care' about the climate you wouldn't render a billion cars useless on the road today
Very well said and quite optimistic from Hammond as well. I think the world is fianlly returning to sense. Reducing the size and weight of cars would be a great step towards extending road longevity and reducing environmental impact.
but where can we get it now though?
What does he mean by synthetic fuels?
Psst, listen to scientists, not car enthusiasts.
This is why I support Hydrogen Powered Vehicles (HPV) which are getting better faster, whilst EVs are slowly getting to use SSB (Solid State Batteries) which could remove the buckle of current EV Batteries and with faster charge times.
Absolute nonsense. You can't just claim any fuel can be distributed the same way. Chemistry says no.
The tesla/ev fanboys are crying and I'm ok with it.
The problem then is how to make the synthetic fuel a net zero fuel. Porsche is so far the only one ive heard of that has done something like it with their plant that recaptures co2 to use in synthetic fuel.
Im just not a fan of a 3000 lb machine that is capable of burning fully submerged under water of an entire week. But thats just me.
Net Zero is a Lie.
Hybrid-Electric Vehicles make the most sense IMO. The things are multiple times more fuel efficient for city use, where theoretically most cars and people are. Every time you break you get a little millage back, less fuel burned overall
the real solution is trains. orders of magnitude more efficient even on the dirtiest fuel.
Trains do not work for a lot of places, especially in the western hemisphere. South and Central America simply cant afford to be dropping money on infrastructure like that, and the US is way too big with too many obstacles to properly make a train system thats faster and more reliable than the airplane network we currently use. Everybody can use a road, only trains can ride a track
Last time I checked, it takes four times the energy to produce synthetic fuel as it would to equivalently charge an EV battery. In a world of abundant nuclear generated electricity, that might be a reasonable proposition. But we aren't in such a world (with the possible exception of the French), so synthetic fuel production is, currently, precisely what you don't commit to doing if your goal is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Rich people problems lol
I don't have a dog in this fight, and I'm not trying to push a barrow here, however many might recall that before the Beijing Olympic Games, organizers harboured grave concerns about the level of air pollution in the city, and it's potential effect on athletes and visitors. Beijing officials vowed to clean up the ambient air in time for the games - to a sceptical world media. They implimented a raft of measures - in one of the world's most populous cities - to combat the problem. Of course, the games went ahead successfully. A couple of years later, I visited Beijing - and sure enough, observed that all of the motorcycles were battery powered. (No exhaust pipes.) - I'm not disputing the amount of pollution currently generated to produce batteries. I am simply attempting to draw attention to what can be achieved if we take the correct pathways going forward.
Edison Motors is pushing ahead with more sensibility than pretty much any government. ...and you can make your own fuel on your own property by composting organic waste (biogas) or pyrolyzing wood waste (syngas).
