I would like to point out that the celebration of Holy Mass in the extraordinary form envisages the reception of Holy Communion while kneeling, as the Holy Host is laid directly on the tongue of the communicant. There is no provision for the distribution of Holy Communion on the hand in this form of the Holy Mass.
Dear Aaron, you are correct the rubrics of the 1962 Missal are very clear that communion should be given kneeling and on the tongue only, during the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. However, because of the current restrictions and in order to maintain these rubrics the reception of the Most Blessed Sacrament takes place after the Mass. As a result people are therefore free to receive Communion on the hand should they wish to.
Communion on hand? And traditional Latin mass???
Love that quote towards the end from St Hosea Maria?? Just wondering at what point it is ok to step away from a destructive relationship to protect yourself? Once we recognise we're being used as a punchbag despite having tried to keep a relationship alive then what do you suggest? When every act of kindness you make is criticised and condemned and the other person wants to deliberately devalue and diminish your every thought, word and action - do we leave it to divine timing & intervention to fix? Being kind to yourself in a healthy way with firm boundaries is so important. We can only control our own thoughts and actions and not that of others. Learning to abandon the ego does not seem to come naturally to many on lifes journey.
