Electronics on the Cheap
I've been following a lot of other youtubers and gotten the electronics bug. I've amassed a lot of components from direct from China, and i'm going to try to do interesting and useful things with them.

The Miami (PCB Vice)
I needed a new PCB Vice so jumped into Fusion 360 and thought I'd do a small video to show it off. Any feedback is much appreciated.
I've had a few requests so popped it on my web store, shipping is the killer but here it is :-)

Am wondering which part of Wales your accent is from Sounds like South Wales ? Thank you for your VIDEO..
What happened with this? is there a better model today?
I ran into a similiar labelling problem while building a weather station. I ordered a BME280 which will do temperature, humidity and pressure. I ordered them from Amazon and they cam labeled with BME280/BMP280. When I got them I tried getting them to work on an ESP32 but could not get them to show humidity. I kept trying different scripts and one of the scripts detected the device and told me that I was using a BMP280. This sensor only does temperature and pressure. I ordered anohter set of sensors from a different supplier and this time I got BME280s. However, it's still labelled BME280/BMP280. I guess this is so they can design one PCB and configured it as they wish.
very good... will it work with an Epever Upower UP3000 / M3322 ???
Can you make a video teaching us?
Interesting video but difficult to understand what you are saying.
Could you please make a video on the process of installing the WLED on ESP01?? Cause mine doesn't working after lots of attempts.. 😢😢
Does it work with waveshare RS485 to wifi?
With Solar panels you can have two different types of converters. A PCM and MPPT, whereas the latter, MPPT may be a good idea for a wind turbine, given the changing output from the turbine. This is ofc a DC converter so rectifying the turbine output and smoothing it with a large capacitors would take out some of this variance.
Is he speaking English?
Nice info, well done, thanks for sharing it :)
Wanted to say thank you for these videos, they got me into Home assistant exactly for this temperature control feature (specially that commercial products have many limitations such as needing Hubs, only battery powered etc). It is really a shame about needing the "deep sleep" wire, this is some fine soldering I cannot do with my bad eyesight (also the ESP I have has some capacitors very close etc. I will see to feed it with a 5V charger and wall plug etc... )
Hi Colin, are you still selling these ? I have a Epever 4210a
Hi Colin. I bought you completeRS485 2 WIFI with box some weeks ago.Just having time now to connect it. I can see RS485-WIFI with windows 10. I can connect it.... But I have no procedure to get more.... LOL.... I think there is a web page ? How to connect (URL ?) May be having more information will help. Best regards Herve from France
This has helped me tons. Thanks.
Hey mate, what do you reccomend for controlling a 110v led grow light with the esp-o1s? power supply wise
Thank you so much, it just works...😊
What do you think about Dave Jones intro to pcb design? He basically says never use metric and only use mils/thou except for manufacturing dimensions like board dimensions and drill holes.
Nice video, keep it up, thanks :)
Hey Colin, thanks so much for this video, could you please share, how to wire that lan cable, im loosing my mind ;,)
1:02 "Just a heads up, the battery you're pointing at is actually a Li-ion 18650, not a LiPo. LiPo batteries are thinner, flexible, and have higher energy density, while Li-ion 18650 batteries are cylinders with lower density. Li-ion 18650 batteries are commonly found in laptops, flashlights, and power banks, and are around 65mm long and 18mm in diameter. LiPo batteries are typically used in RC models, drones, and portable electronics, and come in various shapes and sizes depending on the application.
Great vid, thanks Colin. I have also got a design off thingyverse But enlarged the blades by 50%. I will also design the motor housing using Fusion 360 (depending what motor I use). All I want to do is give a backup to the solar powered lights that we have. I think it just means that I have to solder the wires from the turbine to where the solar wires go onto the circuit board. Work in progress, lets wait & see. All the best....
I think it would be more efficient with a normal DC motor.
hi man, how you place your parts so they snap to the grid?
Do you mean 50 watts? That doesn't sound a lot...
Stepper motors are inefficient as generators if I'm not mistaken.
This was so fantastically crystal clear. You took a daunting piece of software and made it much easier to use. Thanks!
Can you do a 100 watt led mcpcb & led driver design aswell
The cap near the jack barrel is useless. It must be placed close to the load (on the opposite side of the board)!! And yet you pretend to teach others how to make a PCB.
You put the box with your face (nobody cares about) right above the tools palette where all the action was taking place. Additionally the audio is awful. Didn't you check your videos before uploading?
I yesterday ordered pcb and i am watching this video today 🥹
wonderful videos, please make more, very useful
great audio quality
I have the big blue one and it's ok but it's too high off the bench when you're working on small and medium boards. Also it's mostly plastic so when you use hot air they melt. I use a cast aluminum " small press vise". Look that up online. It's very nice for small boards and hot air. Pretty good for desoldering connectors or soldering SMD components with hot air.
this is just what i was looking for. thank you!!
Hello Colin, we are waiting for your reply about the wildlife camera
These 3 videos were perfect for a beginner like me, dude. Thanks for putting effort into them!
Maybe add a groove around top and bottom of pieces that screw together and put a couple o-rings in there so they really grip the board..... Nice idea though!
Hi Colin can you get back to me regarding making a pcb thanks
how do u use the library like getting the item from there on too my canvas because your pic is in the way?............. it said dont drag click on the item than right click then place it where u want it

Hi. You are awesome men. I like your videos but still not understand. I like to make pcb project with screen some buttons encoders and lights for simhub. Can you help my.? please.? i pay..
Can't see many tools on upper right hand of screen, hard to follow along
Just one thing my friend. Set your Mic Volume a bit higher and its very difficult to see your screen and what your doing. Great tutorial from a fellow Tyne and wear follower.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nice job Colin. New to this and it was very helpful.
You are a life-saver. I really appreciate these videos. they are so so helpful.
Love it! The only thing I would suggest, would be to put your PIP on bottom left corner and smaller. Just because I could not tell what you were clicking up on the right top corner. Nonetheless, BRILLIANT friend!
Excellent Colin! You made this soooo easy to absorb and understand. Keep up the great work!
can this device act as a server connected to a router and permits access in anywhere outside home?
The transmitter code changed and also the iLive v5 IR codes are different. Here is mine. Now I need to figure out how to solder this direct to the vacuum so it goes with it. switch: - platform: template name: "Vac1 Clean" turn_on_action: remote_transmitter.transmit_nec: address: 0x5540 command: 0xBB44 - platform: template name: "Vac1 Home" turn_on_action: remote_transmitter.transmit_nec: address: 0x5540 command: 0xEE11 repeat: times: 2
