I'll be using this channel to share basic gaming information, usually content I either can't find for myself or when I do find it, its in a format I think can be made more clearly and concisely. I've been playing TTRPG's since 1979 starting with Dungeons and Dragons before running the gamut of game systems from companies such as Fantasy Games Unlimited to Chaoisum to Palladium Games to Hero Games. Currently, I'm playing in and GMing campaigns using the Savage Worlds Adventure Edition.
Savage Worlds Adventure Edition - Basic Combat Rules
Welcome to a video series on learning Savage Worlds Adventure Edition, or SWADE, and in this video we’ll be looking at basic combat rules.
In the coming weeks, I’ll be uploading new videos that’ll also explore additional rules and all the various options and genres available to gamemasters in starting a new campaign. Videos will be as to the point as possible, following the same concept design as Savage Worlds - simple, fast and fun!
I hope you enjoyed the video and found it helpful. I know what I find helpful are the various tools and assets I use in my game. To be part of a fantastic community on Facebook, please join the Official Savage Worlds Facebook Group. Everyone is friendly and there is always terrific advice being shared:

Thank you for the basic rundown of the rules. This helped inform my most recent purchase of the SWADE system PHB. ^_^
How about a Crystal Heart operative?
This guy's thick Canadian accent makes him impossible to understand. Otherwise, I love the video!
Hahahaha
Really informative! Hope you'd make more videos sometime
Will there be more of these videos?
How about a Pirate setting?
This was an immense help for someone trying to get through the rulebook as a visual guide. But I have to wonder: why'd it stop? Is everything okay?
RIFTS!!! 🙌
Great video!
Really great intro, gave me all the info I needed to get a good idea of the system and in a clear and concise way, nicely done!
This is hands down the best intro to Savage Worlds that I have seen! Using FoundryVTT as a visual aid made a huge difference. Thank you so much for putting the time and effort into these videos. You are an absolute gem!
I appreciate the time you take to put these amazing videos together. They really do make a difference, in my experience. Cheers!
Fantastic video and I've been enjoying the combat in Savage Worlds. It's been great to compare and see what I'm doing right and what I could be utilizing better. Many thanks. I'll check out those maps as well.
This was an eloquently written script. GM Lee, you did an excellent job with demonstrating how Jack and his character animated beyond the page, creating a massively engaging character and script to do so. I can't wait to see Jack continue on his quests for honor!
Very good video to show how fight looks like
fantastic video, you're a solid teacher
Any more videos?
Love your videos! Best ones online for SWADE explaining..please make more!
We need more videos like this ❤
any chance to continue this series?
Is it better to focus on melee or ranged rather than try to be decent at both? Not sure of the balance
depends
Thanks for the link to the greg bruni stuff. Top down tokens are so cool. Also thanks for the informative video
Excellent, clear explanation! Some things I'd like to see in future videos: The Last Parsec (perhaps including conversion from SWEX to SWADE) Powers Chases
Great video. Looking forward to your next one.
How about "Lost Parsec"?
Great video! My group is considering switching from Shadowrun to Savage Worlds for our Cyberpunk game that we run in Foundry, and your videos are super helpful.
Great refresher. Been a few years.
Please make more of these videos! This was incredibly helpful, specifically how you broke down a scene and focused no how the game mechanics and rules work with in-game examples. It was also helpful that you used one scene and characters. I am just getting into RPG's again after years away, and have decided on Savage Worlds system, because we want to play in multiple settings. These videos really make the game easier to understand.
This is supposed to be fast, math bloat from start you're making a whole bunch of rolls on every turn, and drawing cards, this just seems like a round would take 10 minutes.
Well I’m having to explain it so that slows it down. Hey, try it and see for yourself. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea, nor is any one game system, so it may or may not be for you.
As someone running two games in this system it is anything but slow. In fact I find it to be the opposite. I find my players going through my encounters like butter and its awesome. You really gotta give it a shot!
and now play the dark eye and cry 🤣 SW is incr. fast
GM Lee: "Next is Race, and that's a pretty easy decision since this is a traditional 1930's pulp campaign." Me: "Oh, well, yeah that IS an easy choice then. Obviously you want to be wh-" GM Lee: "Jack is a Human." Me: "-uman! Human! I was going to say 'Human'!"
It was hard to figure out how the 13 damage was calculated at 11:12 because the d6 starts as a 2 but gets knocked over to a 4 when the d4s got rolled. Right at the 11:12 timestamp you'd think the roll should be 15, so you have run the video back to see that it was originally a 2.
What a great video! I was wondering if you could make a video like this, but focus on utilizing the Foundry VTT program with combat? It seems like you have to target the critter to hit, then un-target it and re-target it again to roll and assign damage. Maybe it's because I am trying to run combat as a GM and not as a player. Thanks
Such a clear and informative vid on this system. Super useful.
These vids are great. Starting a new campaign tomorrow and these are helpful for all of us! Subbed!
really great. thank you so much
I know this is an old video but can I still use this guide for the first edition of the game?
So good! New Sub. Make one on magic?
The best tutorial rpg I’ve seen !
rifts or pathfinder as savage worlds is like playing magic the gathering with Uno rules.. and about as cool
Well that’s what’s terrific in having so many systems to choose from - the systems can be as complex as you like. It’s better to grow the RPG community than diminish it.
What module produces chat cards with those toggles? Specifically, the chat card when Blake makes his Notice roll...I cannot locate the correct one.
I’ll check!
Around 7:45 you show an example of an exploding d6 roll, where the result was 6, 6, 2... And you declared the total to be 12. Wouldn't you add the 3rd roll of 2, making the total 14?
You are correct! I used the result of the d8 and I should have used the d6… thanks for pointing that out!
@@GameMasterLee The good news is your video is so clear and well-explained, I understood 😊
Great tutorials. Thanks for these. Looking forward to more.
Thanks a lot this really helps :) Say, what module do you use for the combat cards? It looks like better rolls, but better rolls 2 does not give me the snazzy weapon cards you get there? Edit: Nevermind, i was holding it wrong ;)
Dude, your videos are AMAZING! Thank you so much!
Keep the videos coming.
Excellent, please keep adding content
THANK YOU - I've been trying to get running this thing, but didn't want to spring for the ruleset without a clear set of examples on how the game is run. So helpful 🙏
KBash, what are you doing here? Aren't you reviewing a video game series?! Jajajajajajaja. I hope your games went well!
I feel like I learned enough to start playing wow what’s great concise well made video.
Really enjoyed your videos on SWADE. We played SW a lot years ago but recently I picked up the new edition and wanted to just get a refresher on it. You've done a really great job explaining and demonstrating everything! I've passed on your videos to my players as well. Great quality content for Savage Worlds. Look forward to more content from your channel.
Great series! Looking forward to more!
