Yarinohanzo shirasaya are not suited to wooden cut tests. Plus this isnt a true shirasaya. But on the other hand it has a high quality and a simple elegence to it, im actually awaiting my own delivery of this exact item haha. Hope you enjoy it

How long have these plants been in these planters as I want to do similar 1 plant per trough but I want the plant to grow along the trough

I'm also growing plenty of these and even grew one that grows variagated leaves with alternating yellow grooves. Do you have any mutated ones?
I have just this baby growed from a seed The bigger one that you saw in the other video is from rizome cutting What I see until now is that some leaves became Yellow and they died replaced by new shoots
looks like a pretty new division. Should have much bigger shoots than that next season
You can check the status update of the same plant in this playlist, videos with title 2022xxxx This spring was cold and the new shoots of this plant started to grow in middle May and they are still in progress. They are much bigger

Hi! In 2017 I planted two fargesia scabrida bamboo plants here in Rochester, NY (zone 6b). They have done very well since then. That is until this winter 2022. We had a couple of unusually cold cold snaps this winter (low single digits) and today both plants have turned totally brown and are dropping their leaves. Are they totally dead or just killed off above ground? What should I do to help them recover if still alive? THANKS!
Hello Tom, thanks for your message. For my experience, when the plants change in that way, unfortunately is impossibile to recover. I tried twice to grow up a pair of Scabrida and I lost all 4 plants: the first pair due to the summer very hot and the second pair due to a strange white fungus that killed them in few days. I know that could sound strange but the running bamboo types are better to grow in pods because they are stronger and hard to die. You just have to repotted them after some years.
@@full1985black Thank you so much for your response! I always heavily mulched them in the fall and have always wrapped the entire plants for winter. Except this year. They have grown rather large and now established I thought they would be ok. Guess we'll see. Thanks again!
