I don't know if it's still the case but Kasp used to be made in Wales. I have a couple which I could easily pick, but after several years of no picking I now find them one of the harder padlocks I have in my collection.

What about a lock that is open but locked and cannot be opened?

Thanks for picking it on camera. Now I at least know that it can be picked. Needless to say that I couldn't pick it, yet 😂 That's the stupid thing about those Swiss formats. They often (Abus made an honourable exception there) need you to drill out a small part that's crimped in. I'm also convinced maintenance was never part of the concept. Rekeying a lock? I don't think that anyone does this nowadays on a Kesonor Kaba.

Controlling core and tension looks extremely necessary.

Another lock packed full of pins and another very good open. I would be gutted if I had turned the lock and brucked it. So that's good advice for sure.

So tempted by one of these. Just on the limit of what i would pay for a new padlock which makes it a dilemma, if they were more expensive i wouldn't have the problem wondering. Your Abus skill is superb

This lock is based on the Abus Pfaffenhain Integral. But the Integral also has up to 6(?) normal key and driver pins. 10/10 for style and 2/10 for security. Just because I couldn't rake it open. I tried hard, but couldn't get those sidepins into an overset. If you ever visit Switzerland I recommend getting one of those locks from the hardware store as a souvenir (OBI has them). All other options are Kaba and Keso. And this one is probably the easiest Swiss format lock for gutting.

Really interesting lock. Thought at first that the 22mm body would really help with snap protection but it all seems to narrow down to a spine that looks the same as a normal euro cylinder including the drilled fixing hole. I will have to call in a Swiss locksmith next trip, can't begin to guess how much that will cost, everything else is so expensive there !

Nicely done! I have mine on the way from Fabianoh130. Can't wait to pick it too 😎👍 🤔 Hmmm not all the pinstacks are utilized. That's a bit surprising to see. So, right now we see an Abus 83/45 which is orange belt ... and if we add one more pin stack with a security driver, we would end up with a green belt level lock. Well, it won't actually count as green belt, but the level of security would be up there, am I right?

Happy you liked it. The BKS almost got lost on the way to me. It was sitting on the shelf of the little DHL shop across the street for a couple of days. Of course the sender didn't use package tracking. When I went to the shop to ask for any suspicious looking package the guy found a half opened envelope. The name was stricken out and the name of the little shop was written over it. But luckily my DHL customer number was still visible.

I bought one a couple of weeks ago. Could just let it sit in the window like that 😅 And now it sits in my lock drawer. Because nobody has the intention of picking such a nice lock. Thanks for sharing.
