Had a 83 kdx 200 in 1986. Simple, reliable, tractor motor that would rev out with great power. Whish i could find one 😢. They are rare and almost unatainable at a reasonable price in my area. Nice bike!

I kept my '84 KDX 200 in top shape until I sold it in 2016. Rebuilt as required all stock. Best offroad bike ever. Lots of hard miles.

I got a cell phone holder off of Amazon that goes under dash. It’s got the rubber that compresses an sticks to dash. Works great. My bike looks just like yours 2004. Runs great.love it.

I'm all for "fab" but this is a hack job... You can bag those 5" monster springs and order ANY length PROPER spring set down to a tiny 1'inch rise for about $8 that will attach correctly and look decent. It's gonna drop when you sit on it, but a 2 1/2 inch spring would have been a good place to start. It also looks like you could have slid the seat mount into a better position on the seat itself, before butchering the holes. You didn't watch a single video to check out another bike before ordering a one size fits all part and bolting it on?

I bought a spring seat for 02 xl custom 883 . It also doesn't quiet fit but I'll be making it fit. Might do a video as well incase I end up doing something different than you. I did notice I can bolt the seat back as far as I can and it helps with the springs sitting more upright. And I can fit mine into the front section you were grinding down without bending anything. I most likely will only need to drill holes into the base to screw it down. We'll see.

I used to think apes were stupid and dangerous… until I road with them… it shocked me. Surprised me I don’t like too high.. shoulder height or a bit more.. I’m 5’7” so 12 inch mini apes on the m8 street Bob. Was perfect

what size sprockets did you go with?

They made a 2000 which I have one 99 to 2000

the yz400s are made for the track and the wr400s are for trails and in the bush. There made off the same frame and everything but gear rations are dufferent between the wr400 and the yz400

I also recently picked up an'84 kdx200 for $900.00 It's in pretty good condition, but still needs rear brake pads, after market HI FLITE seat cover has a rip in the middle, and needs a few other miscellaneous things. I'm pretty stoked I got my hands on a pretty much bullet proof, air cooled 200 two-stroke from 1984 that starts on first or second kick (after a couple of primer kicks with no choke, no throttle) 🙂💯🎶👂👍
