Non polarized dermoscopy also returns light from deeper scattering events. The main difference is that superficial scatterings are partially deleted with cross polarization.

Re: Discoid Lupus: Is it possible that late biopsy (1 to 2 years after onset) could show all or most of what you discussed, but not display in the pathologist’s exam of the sample, any correlation to autoimmune? I’ve had four weak-positive ANA results (140 score, other autoimmune tests normal, MANY signs and symptoms), and my skin has been diagnosed as “Inflammatory Hyperkeratotic Dermatitis”, however, I was misdiagnosed as “Acne Excoriee” for a year, despite my insistence that was not that case, and could not get anyone to provide a biopsy as requested. I’ve now had two biopsies; one at the one year mark from date of onset, and one at the 1 yr 9 mos mark, neither showed autoimmune related, however, this issue occurred during a three month span when my body suddenly broke down in various ways (skin stopped healing, swelling, diagnosed with osteoarthritis in three areas, face became spotted in the follicles as the video mentioned, then I woke up with a swollen face, that became open lesions a day later, and remain two years later). I know there’s more to this, and I’m seeing yet another specialist later this month, but I need to ask anyone who may have insight, anywhere in the country or world at this point. Thank you. ❤️💛💙
