I'm looking at a used Connelly in really good shape. Problem is even if I get the table for free, it's $1500 to move, reassemble, level, re-cloth. And maybe $500 more if the bumpers need replaced. So $2000, and still have to possibly pay for the table. But inflation was supposed to be transitory they said - yeah, right. I don't blame the pool table moving company though. EVERYTHING costs so much more now. Need to change policies.

North America is the only part of the world where 45 rpms have the big hole. It is also where most vintage juke boxes were made, thus they were built for the big hole. At the end of the 78rpm era there was a format war between RCA Victor and Columbia records. Columbia supported the 33 LP and RCA decided to sell albums as a box of 45's about the size of a 7 inch reel to reel box. They built 45 only changers that used the large hole and did so from the late 40's until the mid 50's. The other companies made spindle adaptors to play 45s. RCAs box of 45s failed to catch on but the 45 did replace the 78 as a single format. The big hole never went away and the spindle adaptor became a standard accessory with every changer.
