38:25 The sound and accelleration from the Rocket is scary.
No one recorded the sound when the barrier was broken? aw what a shame. Fake US BS as usual because the Brits were killing it (2 way record of course)
If he broke the sound barrier, then WHY was there no sonic boom?!?
Shame it never went supersonic !! No sonic boom As proved now a land based car when going supersonic the boom is apparent and happens as proved with official record, Timed both ways as per the speed record rules A great effort but with very spurious lax following of the recognised rules of timing the run
Was funny when talking to General Yeager at the beginning "well down here at just above sea level the speed of sound is 740 MPH , and up there where I was in the X1 in 1947 the speed of sound was "only" 660 mph ". .... only 660 MPH 😂😂😂😂 ... that was great!! 🙂, when you have General Chuck Yeagers respect your doing something special. So glad Stan didn't get hurt especially when I seen his little girl crying with worry.
Your video is so ahead of its time. Bless you!
And the Chinese can replicate the exact same ceramic bezel for ten times less🤣
The Tesla Plaid is now $15,000 more than the long range rather than $59,000
Meant rather than $50,000. The Plaid also has carbon fiber interior trim rather than wood. Both now come standard with round steering wheel and they cost $74,990 and $89,990 for the Plaid in any exterior paint color.
He looks like he supposed to look.
This made me lol literally. Thats like deciding between a prius and a plaid lmao smfh
Why wouldn't there be the telltale sonic boom (bang) when the car exceeded Mach 1? I understand the radar tracking etc. to make it official, but did not hear the thunderclap? My apologies if I am ignorant here or others have already brought this up. Cheers.
I was interested in your review but you turn this into a political blah blah blah so I had to stop
Rip
I love how the model s has reduced in price by 30%😂 cost me $110,000 for my model s plaid track package❤
"Stan Barrett's alleged attempt to break the sound barrier was not officially sanctioned or recognized because it lacked the necessary verifiable data, independent verification, regulatory approvals, and credible evidence to support the claim. Breaking the sound barrier is a monumental achievement in aviation history, and any such claim should be thoroughly documented, verified, and validated by experts and relevant authorities before it can be officially recognized." Shame it wasn't better documented. Still hugely impressive & brave - I love the simplicity of just strapping a guy to a rocket and adding a fin & some wheels. Oh, and a sidewinder!
Thank you Hans for giving us ROLEX. Please fix your ADs. They are spoiling the experience for us all.
Watched it from the day room at Ft Bragg... or whatever it's called this week.
Sorry but you can totally tell the difference between a plaid and a long range when you drive it and isnt the car for driving? You say the Plaid is just for "bragging rights" then later on in the video you guys are gassing the long range and talking about racing.......😂😂
rocket cart. that's all it is
That was AWESOME Jake Thank You very much.
Amazing how it took just 43 years for Anheuser-Busch to regress from sponsoring real achievements to DM and the rainbow mafia.
Why is Champion a sponsor? It’s a rocket car, it don’t have any spark plugs. I never heard a sonic boom either!
❤
Not blast off, blast forward, did that rocket have champion spark plugs?
Budweiser the king of queers
What a great video of pure dedication to fulfil his dream. 😊
The sound barrier,aka speed of sound,aka mach 1 is,temperature realted,from 59`f which makes Mach 1 @ 751mph,not 600 anything..and in warmer temps, mach 1s speed is higher...
I want to hear just the crew, driver and most all the car breaking the sound barrier. Who needs all the blahblahblah ?
I kinda think the AF had that radar calibrated, I believe……………also the announcer on the salt is Brock Yates the founder of the Cannonball…….
30:07 YOURE WELCOME ✌🏻
I remember Arfons, Gabelich, and of course Breedlove
Why no aonic boom?
Budweiser went from this to trannies
NOT DYIN' FOR A BUD
"They've got the engine beefed up, track's in good shape, and Stan's ready!" When General Chuck Yeager is that sure and enthusiastic about it, how can you miss? A totally legendary man right there for sure. And, as down to Earth as he was, don't ever forget: GENERAL!
Only the golden nectar of cold beer could accomplish such a feet
Im an old dude, 62 but i still think this is fuckn awesome!!!...way back in 1979. i dont suppose that this is very big deal to a lot of the younger folks, now days, like the moon landing...or the SR-71, even..but ill say it again without the explicative, this is awesome!!!! and think about this.... this was done without any...or very little computers!!!!..just the ones that these folks on their shoulders...that is what makes all these accomplishments so fuckn awesome to me.....sorry for my uncontrolled use of explicative....Carry on
Ken Squier looks like he has a dead animal for a hat.

..and that Z in the background!
You aren’t even supposed to be able to see this thing after 3 miles the “curve” would block your view, you couldn’t even attempt this on a “curved” salt flat, it’s called salt “flat” and people will insist it curves somehow
Someone actually tried to tell me that these salt “flats” are not actually flat but that they “curve” with shape of the earth, the biggest salt flat in the world in 3900 square miles and located 12,000 feet of in the Andes mountains of Bolivia, so these “flats” would need to curve less than the ones located at sea level because of the elevation you need to add 6000ft to your radius calculation, the whole thing needs to curve at just the right amount +6000ft added to the radius in order to maintain the 12,000ft elevation over the entire 3900 square miles, and actual “flat” salt flat that size would no longer feel “flat” you’d actually start to gain elevation after a while traveling in a straight line on a ball, a plumb shouldn’t read true on either end of the salt “flat” if it were actually flat, it needs to “curve” in order to maintain elevation on a ball
Lower atmospheric pressure leads to slower sound barrier?
The sound travels slower through the “thinner” air? You would think sound travels faster with more water in the atmosphere
I just need that Boom to do it for me.
how do you say thank you on CZcams
WOW. I was 19-20 when this occurred. 44 years ago.
My grandpa actually broke the speed record 5 or 6 times Craig breedlove he passed away a little a while ago he was going to go back out again actually built another jet car but the national guard or the army was the sponsor then the war on terrorism happened and they backed out
I'm 54. I was 10. So much fun
No proof of timing and speed, only a guesstimate. The timing units picked up a passing truck and recorded a speed of 38mph. Also he only done one run.
