Amtrak 685 rips through a frosty Mishawum station with one P42 and nothing else besides the amfleets! The NPCU that was on the train was removed by a second P42 at North Station and taken to Southampton St yard for repairs since it couldn’t lead. Enjoy the badass hornshow!!

Filmed December 21st, 2021. With Christmas wreaths on the engines noses, Amtrak 123 leads 685 thru Mishawum with 103 on the back. There’s a reason crews call dual P42 Downeaster sets “double-headed monstahs”!!! The scream of the traction motors from 123 and especially 103 is one of my favorite GE sounds.

First two clips were filmed December 21st, 2021. 686 with NPCU 90224 coasts thru Mishawum first with a couple horn blasts. Can’t remember when I filmed this. Definitely within the last year or so. The tree leaves rustle and whisper as Amtrak 688 with NPCU #90220 breaks the ambient silence of Newton Junction, NH. Filmed March 7th, 2022. I visited the Springfield line to catch a friend running his train; and left with a shot of his train, along with some freight action, but CT Rail train that had a lot of noise to make!! CT Rail GP40 6699 leads the charge past Emerson Road in Longmeadow, MA. What I wasn’t expecting was SLE Cab car 1711 to raise hell with that horn after passing!!

First shot is filmed February 3rd, 2022 at 12:28 AM. The 108 returns to the Downeaster with its new paint scheme, leading an equipment extra through Cross Road in Haverhill to Portland, Maine. I remember watching this one rainy night in 2018, nostalgia.
Nice hearing 1635 back when it still had the original bell before it got the disgusting e-bell, which doesn’t fit on these older comet single-level coaches, but newer coaches it fits very well on like the Kawasaki 1700s and Rotem 1800s.
1:24, Ohh wow, you caught 1635 20 days before it was involved in a collision in Lawrence, MA on January 10, 2015, probably with a car or truck at a railroad crossing. It returned to service on September 10, 2020 after receiving damage repairs at Delaware Car in Wilmington, Delaware and the rebuilding process gave it an e-bell and new wheels and it ran in service before being retired in March of 2024.
