    Seems like the SCADA server should be checking the timestamps of the events and alerting if event(s) are in the past (outside an acceptable window) and not writing the erroneous data to the historical database. Simply store them to some anomaly event log and not corrupt the historical database data.

    • @acectrl
      @acectrl Před 26 dny

      You've raised a good point. The historic data is one of the DNP3 feature as an industrial communication protocol. It mitigates the risk of comms failure by storing events in the outstation controller and upload the event data the SCADA server (DNP master). Depending on the server software, for example, GeoSCADA (ClearSCADA) can be configured to ignore the historic events passed a certain period. However, most of the application servers are configured to accept the events to avoid loss of data. We share another video with you: czcams.com/video/SmRI4H1LqsQ/video.html

    It's not about loosing the voltage. If we connect 17v panel to 12v battery, which is, for example at 12.0v. The voltage on the terminals of the battery will start increasing from 12.0 till.. until the pulse ends. The charging current is proportional to difference between open circuit voltages. Lets say we don't want to charge higher than 14.4v. when we'll reach that voltage the controller should end the pulse. While not charging the voltage on battery terminals will go down to 12.x -13.x pretty fast. Then next pulse kicks in. We're loosing power between the pulses and it has nothing to do with voltage diff. Mppt has regulated voltage output so it charges constantly thus not loosing power. It also able to pull as much energy from panels as possible.

    In other words, can the MPP device give a higher amperage value than the amperage value given by the panel?

    • @acectrl
      @acectrl Před 6 měsíci

      MPPT cannot provide a higher amperage than what the solar panel is capable of. However, it can optimize the efficiency of the panel's output

    • @psykopat81
      @psykopat81 Před 6 měsíci

      @@acectrl What I wanted to say was whether it could actually increase the amperage by reducing the voltage. For example, while a solar panel that provides 15 volts and 7 amps is charging a 12 volt battery, the mppt device can output 14 volts and more than 7 amps. In this case, the 7 amperes coming from the panel are increased.

    Are there examples of when Modbus would actually be more preferred? Are there any examples of data that don't necessarily need to be able to send alarm detections back to the master?

    • @acectrl
      @acectrl Před rokem

      Hello Sieros, thank you for your question. There are indeed software to convert Modbus signals to DNP. However the software modules needs to be deployed on a computer (preferrable an industrial PC) with serial ports if the Modbus or DNP communicate in RS232 or RS485. For example, ABB MicroSCADA COM500 or COM581 is one the software. The cost of such module usually outweights the price of a hardware module. Hence, hardware would be our recommendation unless the amount of I/Os are significant.

So you can't talk about client/server thats wrong, MMS in the other hand yes as the relay can send a buffered or unbuffered report to a client. It has nothing to do where we are from.
