🎊 Europe's largest street party is back every year over the August Bank Holiday weekend in Notting Hill in London, and highlights Caribbean and Black diasporic cultures.
🎉 Here is my best advice if you want to go to this event: if you come in a group, do not lose your friends, because the telephone network is saturated due to the crowds and it’s very difficult to find each other once lost !! Haha
🎉 Unlike most local parties, Notting Hill Carnival has nothing to do with English culture and is celebrated by the Afro-Caribbean community. The main features include vivid national costumes, music (soca, calypso, dancehall, reggae, samba, ghetto zouk, jungle, drum and bass…) parades, dancing, sound systems, drinks (rum...) and traditional food (plantain, jerk chicken...).
🎊 This street festival began in the mid-1960s, when Afro-Caribbeans in London decided to celebrate their culture despite all the racial misunderstandings of the time. This joyful Caribbean street party is now one of the most popular events in the capital.
