What is use of this dictation? You should probably give passage dictation at different speed.
This is to help students with numbers and practicing with writing time. I do give other dictations. check out my library of videos.

I went to court reporting school back in 2008 and was told by my instructor that I was better off learning at my own speed because I caught on much faster than the rest of the class. A couple years ago, I got another machine and found you, then I had to stop again because of a major illness and now I'm back on the machine. I love your videos SO much. They're the only one I've been using since I restarted! 😊

Hi! I'm a fresh graduate and planning to apply for a court reporter. Do you have any tips to improve my writing speed? My course curriculum had a stenography subject until 3rd year of first semester. So, I had stopped practicing shorthand for a long while after that. I just started to practice and learn again this past few days so it was very hard for me to keep up with the dictations.
Hello! My first suggestion would be to make sure you know your theory inside out. Next, I would say start at the low speeds until you can write them without hesitations or mistakes. Then start moving up in your speed building. Much success to you on your journey. 💞

my suggestion would be for you to write short. The more common words that you can write in one stroke the better. Also make sure you tuck in your endings to the main stroke instead of coming back for a separate stroke. Stating - STAEUGT, states - STAEUTS, stated - STAEUTD. If the word already has the final G in the stroke, use final DZ for your "ing" ending. Like baking - PWAEUBGDZ, making - PHAEUBGDZ. When people are speaking fast, you don't want to have to come back for that extra stroke just to tack on an ending. It seems like all the theories are teaching students to do a separate stroke for those endings. Big mistake. Hope that helps. Good luck!

I am in court reporting school and am trying to learn to utilize the Brief It feature in Case CAT while I'm writing. I also have ADHD (so it is hard to focus on things anyway) and I was getting quite frustrated with trying to balance listening, writing as well as I could, and paying attention to the Brief It pane.. but by the end of this dictation and all the self-confidence talk, it really boosted me.. well my self-confidence up! lol just thought I'd share. Thanks Shannon! 🐸
So nice to hear it helped at least in one way! Keep plugging along and before you know it focus will be something that isn’t that important because it will go from your ears to your fingers and skip the brain

I'm sorry, but the hand thing is not working. If you are doing 2 voice QA by yourself; I'd suggest editing the video so that the answers are a photonegative filter of footage because I focus too much on trying to get the hand in plain view. and maybe changing the tone of the voice using voice modulation. -JDG, steno student
I am sorry you have had trouble with the hand. This is the way I can do it for now.
