‘Is it Germans or Soviets attacking?’ | Poland’s two-front war
When the Soviets finally acted on their deal with Germany, explains Roger Moorhouse, ‘a propaganda narrative was devised to dress up the invasion as… an attempt to secure order following the supposed collapse of the Polish state… The word invasion, of course, was never mentioned. But… the instruction issued by Boris Shaposhnikov, the Chief of the General Staff, to his commanders said nothing about humanitarian intervention. Instead, it spoke - without irony - of a “lightning strike” to destroy Polish forces.
.
‘Shaposhnikov got his wish. The Red Army - despite its own lack of preparedness & equipment - advanced swiftly against the lightly armed troops of the Polish “KOP” border defence corps… The resulting chaos among the defenders was exemplified by the report of the KOP commander of the city of Czortków, who was asked by his superiors in Warsaw: “Is it German or Soviet planes attacking?” It was a question that neatly summed up Poland’s predicament.
.
‘The Soviet advance into Poland was also aided by… the deployment of agents provocateurs, deception… [and] disinformation… Propaganda messages [were used] to confuse the defenders; announcing, for instance, that Soviet forces were coming to liberate the working class, or that they were coming to Poland’s aid against the Germans. In one instance, the invaders were played into town by a Red Army band playing the Polish military hymn “We are the First Brigade”. Such ruses succeeded. It was not unusual for Polish garrisons to welcome Soviet forces before realising their mistake.
.
‘Others were not so accommodating. Bitter pitched battles were fought at Husiatyn, Dzisna & Sarny; while sieges ensued before the cities of Grodno & Wilno fell to Red Army forces. Later in the campaign, Polish resistance would bloody Red Army noses at Szack, Husynne & Wytyczno.
.
‘In a few instances, German & Soviet forces even collaborated… [Such as] at Brest-Litovsk, where a joint parade of Wehrmacht & Red Army troops was held to mark the German handover of the city to Soviet control. General Heinz Guderian & his Soviet counterpart Semyon Krivoshein smiled amicably for the newsreel cameras, as a swastika fluttered behind them.’

Less than 800 of the 8,200 SS personnel who served at Auschwitz were ever brought to justice. " Mans inhumanity to Man " Pure Evil!!
Fun Fact: The leader of this unit of the Waffen-SS (Oskar Dirlewanger) was given a horrific death. Two of the polish guards that were protecting him seized the oppurtunity to slowly beat him to death with their rifle stocks while he was awaiting trial for many many war crimes
Nah he actually went to Egypt
He actually is an a modern islamic
It seemed even this regular SS officer is intimidated when he was talking to the guy. It shows pretty accurate depiction of what other SS men thinks about the Dirlewanger Brigade even that brigade is part of the SS. Other SS members aren’t upon with that SS brigade since it shows how brutal and sadistic the Dirlewanger Brigade really was. Great scene.
He is a wermacht soldier. Private.

It really was much worse. You don't want to know that.

there is 200+ documented tortue methods used by UPA aka Ukranian Insurgent Army

Were the commanders captured ?
One thing what pisses me off with this movie is the polish pilots and all those other foreign squadrons wore the RAF uniform and not normal clothes
What's the problem? That's what most wore, with some small degree of leeway permitted... and also with some national insignia attached to it. What do you think they wore? Levi 501s and evening dress?
The masks and uniforms look badass

@@Kratos_Poland_real lol no
, I didn't particularly understand what you meant from the comment so yeah, sry.
What movie or tv series is this?
@krishaira This has nothing to do with Palestine. this represents Poles - the Wola massacre was the massacre of the Polish people left in Warsaw, most Jews were killed by then. Poland has nothing to do with modern Israel. Also, ethnic Poles are Slavs, not Jews. Yes, Jews lived in Poland since the Middle Ages but Polish Jews were still Jews from the Middle East, not Slavs, not Poles. Jews married mostly among each other and didn't mix with Poles. Some of them did, but the majority didn't.
ashkenaz arent from the middle east they are judaized yes they are diffrent from slavs but they arent middle eastern either

what film is this clip from ?
Volhynia massacre
It's from Polish movie "Volhynia" ("Wołyń" in Polish.) Tittle is based on old-Polish land named Volhynia (present Ukraine). In 40's of XX century Ukrainian Insurgent Army started genocide on non-Ukrainians minorities (Poles, Czech, Hungarians, Jews etc.) in Eastern Galicia and Volhynia killing - at least - 200 000 women, children and elders. To this day their government blocks Polish exhumations, while allowing Germany exhumations of their nazi soldiers (that speaks volumes). You can find this movie easily, it's on CZcams with English subtitles. You need to type: "Volhynia Full Movie" and You should be find it without any issues. Best Regards.

What we are witnessing right now are members of the 36th SS Dirlewangner Brigade. Was one of the worst SS units of all time so bad that even the SS hated them begged Hitler to keep them out of fighting, along with even launching investigations against them. Even referring to this unit as nothing more than a bunch of pigs for their sick sadism. I learned that this unit was made of people that came from prisons and insane asylums. At first that was just accepting people that were accused of crimes like petty theft, or poaching. But as the war went on, they started recruiting, murderers, and rapists from both prisons and insane asylums. Interestingly enough by the time the war ended their numbers went from 4000 to 900 by the end of World War II. They were good at killing people, all kinds of horrible atrocities, but the one thing they really sucked at was fighting on the battlefield. Like literally, they were the worst unit on the battlefield. I think what I found even more disturbing about this unit was the fact that there commander and founder of the unit was a violent drunker pedophile who had a real pleasure and torturing people, when it came to the Warsaw uprising, his men captured a daycare with children inside he ordered his men to not shoot them, but bayonet to death to save ammunition.
Is this from a movie?
Yes, it’s called Wołyń/Hatred very powerful movie
