Simple way to prime a car - Use a roller and sand it down
zhlédnutí 599Před 5 měsíci
In this episode I will show you a simple DYI option of priming your car with a simple roller. It is indeed a bit time consuming but it makes full sense if time is not your adversary and you look after a great primer finish, full coverage of all the mistakes from filling and of course a cheap option.

I do love those AI voices, it sounds just like Morgan Freeman!
it should:)
That looks fantastic, nice paintwork!
How come you're covering the floor with aluminium tape?
That is roof sealing tape, contains a high adhesive rubber. The aluminum on top is a very thin layer to protect against UV. The utility in the car is to reduce vibration and noise.
Finally a video. Thanks
from now on they will come a bit more frequent hopefully
What's that electrical thing in the carburettor intake?
That's a single point injection, not carb and those wires are for it
@@eugen4843 Ah, ok, so is it a fuel injector to fire a jet of fuel into the carb when acceleration is needed?
Are you using the original cellulose paint?
What do you think caused your hand to swell? Was it the cut which got infected?
That looks really good!
It is even better now!
How come you didn't mask off the tyres?
I'll change them all and the rims will be repainted
@@Renault5Campus When I had my R5, my rims were quite rusty. I wonder if shot-blasting them would have been a good idea?
@@jamespassas9441 Sure, but then electrostatic paint is needed
The car will look fantastic with new bumpers! I've read that it's a good idea to apply a UV filter to the plastic to stop it deteriorating from the sun.
Just can;t wait!
Are you using the original cellulose paint?
I am using a 2K paint, now sure if cellulose based. Super resistant in fact, I choose it cause does mot require varnish
@@Renault5Campus When I had mine, I bought a can of the original paint from Renault. It was very shiny finish!
Never applied primer with a roller before!
My R5 had plastic door panels, no upholstery...
Very nice job!
Thanks bro!
Is the fuel tank plastic?
sure thing
Wow, I didn't know you could re-silver the reflectors, great job!
I did it in a factory following the same process as original
@@Renault5Campus Did you use silver, or aluminium? Or some other metal coating? Often in the photographic industry, they use aluminium or silver..
@@vasilis8208 Aluminum, standard in industry.
Did you replace the broken valve guide?
Lol, you're in good company with Sylvester Stallone & Morgan Freeman helping you!!
Wow, one of your push rods is badly bent!
I straighten it back with a hammer:)
I had a 3-door one, fantastic car! Same colour.
great cars matte
would like to see final result too
Pretty soon matte! Subscribe and follow up.

👍
Go slower with the paintgun next time. your hand is flying over the surface.
Thx for the tip, I cannot set the pressure on the compressor nor gun therefore I used 6 bars, this is the reason for the high speed of my hand.
Not bad for an at home paint job. Im assuming you dont paint cars for a living. But for an amateur you get a pass😁
It is actually first time ever doing this, actually all I did on the car up till now is a first time ever experience.
Learn to use the spray gun, because you are not using it correctly
U mean the angle or the speed? More tips are welcome!
minus the 250quid compressor lol
best I could get:)
NICE 👍👍
Thanks ✌
Hi. Does the 1.1l engine have timing chain or belt?
Timing chain
Suspenders
Chain, simple old Renault Cleon Fonte concept. That's just a quick search but you can find it in Europe easily. www.arsif-pieces-auto-collection.fr/en/accueil/6591-kit-de-distribution-renault-r4-58-maillons.html
Good job! 👍👍 Looking forward to the next episode
More to come! I was super busy these days so no progress was done. Will be the same next week...I hope by the weekend to have it ready.
Felicitari!
Thx!
I have a question if they are the same engine heads and gashtung engine heads renault 5 950 cc and campus 1.100ccm
Yeah, the engine head should be the same but if you can tell me the engine type I can then confirm you for sure.
Cześć, dobra robota , mam również taką r5 TL z 1984 r . 1,1 c1eg7
Thank you, is the C1G carburator?
Tak @@SofaSessionsProject
bel lavoro,bravo
Thank you!
Btw, is the engine head aluminium? What about the engine block?
Engine head is for sure aluminum, I guess the engine block as well.
@@Renault5Campus Ah, that's good because it won't rust.
I love the Scottish voice! 😁
me too:)
Ouch!! Are you using factory-made replacement sills, or making your own?
Making mine, could not found any available.
@@Renault5Campus They look good!
I painted some body parts of my R5 (it was the same colour as yours), but I used a piston-type spray gun which wasn't suitable for this type of paint. It worked better with a compressed air spray gun.
Still trying to decide if I will paint it myself or on a paintshop.
@@Renault5Campus I guess it depends on how much needs to be repainted, just parts or the whole car.
whole car, interior/exterior@@jamespassas9441
Was that bendy thing a push rod?? Yikes!
Yeah man...one valve was tucked in the valve giude and then the pusher got bender when trying to move the valve...it was a complete mess.
@@Renault5Campus I guess the valve must have got stuck..
It sounds like Morgan Freeman!
AI is great these days!
Do you use Kurust or similar compound which binds to rust & neutralises it?
Depending on the area I also used some rust neutralizer but I mainly tried to remove it mecanically
I LOVE the voices!
Wow, BIG job!
I had to take mine apart like that, when I had a leak from the heater martix! I opted to hose down the whole interior of the car to get rid of the leaked antifreeze, as I was worried it would rot the paint. I also washed all the carpets & upholstery!
Yeah, doing that was a nice job, I am now a bit stuck underneath the car, I hope by the weekend to have it done.
@@Renault5Campus Oh no, not too much rust I hope?
pretty nasty @@jamespassas9441
@@Renault5Campus Uh-oh!!
Can you still get the original stick-on go-faster stripes? Or would you have to match them with something new?
I've made some pictures with those and I will try to reproduce them in Photoshop and then print them again.
@@Renault5Campus Ah, that's a great idea! Can you print them on sticky vinyl?
Sure I can@@jamespassas9441
Another fine voice effect, love it!
Just one thing though- did you skim the head at all and/or the top of the block? probably not necessary, but I did notice some pitting on the top of the engine block!
I did not, the cost was pretty high. The pitting are in some area where there is no tightness. Seems to work fine!
I love the different voices, by the way! 🤩
Thanks, from the next episode on the voices will be back!
@@Renault5Campus I love the Lady Penelope voice!
@@Renault5Campus And the Scottish guy!!
Agreed, it's usually recommended to change the cylinder head bolts, because apparently they are special 'stretch' bolts which can only be used once...
The logical explanation is that cause of the tempo they are deforming(getting longer) and then the torque values are not repetitive from a screw to another.
@@Renault5Campus That's right! When I serviced the cylinder head of my VW Polo, they told me I must replace all the bolts when I re-assembled it.. But that cost quite a lot!
