Hi there! We're Josie and Marcus and we just bought our dream home our in the countryside in the south of Sweden after living in London, UK for 6 years. In the coming years we will be renovating most of our buildings and doing fun projects on our new property. Thanks for following along!

Unexpected fireplace makeover

Unexpectedly replacing our fireplace and revamping the area around it 3 months after moving into our house. I tried masonry and angle grinding for the first time which was a whole lot of fun.
Building a dog fence on our Swedish homestead

We finally tackled the task of fencing in our front yard so we can feel comfortable letting the dogs run around off lead. We used material we already had as well as some additional items we got from the hardware store.

They definitely are! Houses are much higher quality in Sweden as well, we moved from a London rental to this and we’re so much warmer and drier here.

Around 3,6 SEK 😬😂 but it differs a lot depending on where in Sweden you are located

@@OurHomespunHouse Ah ok, now I get it! Because of the high price, there must have been a lot of land included! That's usually the reason the price is that high for a house in the country side in Swe. How many ha is the land?
We have 3 ha of land. Proximity to cities and communities also play a huge role. We’re in the middle of the woods but we’re only 5 minutes from the store 😬🥰

We have been watching a lot of people on CZcams buying a house in Sweden and doing it up and then it showed us yours. You have the prettiest house I have seen there so far. Love that the garage is under the house. What area are you in? Good luck with all the work you have there.

It's so cute and has a lot of space for everything, plus nature around the house is amazing. But its missing just one thing - a cat 😊😂🐈. Every house needs a dog and a cat 😁
Oh trust me cats are coming in the future 😂 there are at least 4 of our neighbors cats roam the grounds already though

No we don’t, I grew up around horses but was never interested in riding myself. We are planning on getting chickens though 😍

I would first dig up that garden area and only use screened soil ,to plant food in ,,Nice outside space,love it , nice to see what changes you decide, enjoy , better than the UK any day ,BLESS YOU BOTH , ,and thanks for showing us ,

"Our dream home" - how can we change it? What people really mean is that the location is great. I've seen so many of theses lately and they rebuild or renovate so It's unrecognisable. It'll be interesting to see what you'll do.
True, in our case it’s our dream home because it checks so many boxes of what we wanted in a home, multiple buildings, woods, land for planting things, the house itself isn’t my dream house but all the other weigh so much more, because I can work on the house, and honestly that’s part of the dream too 🥰 plus this house is from 1994 so it doesn’t have any historical details to preserve really

Beautiful. I am well jealous. How to search for these sort of properties? Any websites. We are thinking of escaping from the UK and that place looks like a paradise.
We used the Swedish site hemnet.se to find this place, but we had very specific search criteria as we knew we wanted some really secluded with some land. I think we were really lucky to find this so quickly. Although if you go further north in Sweden I think it’s possible to find really good properties similar to this one for cheaper, it is very location dependent I’d say. We loved living in the UK but it was time for us to leave for the woods and we haven’t regretted it for ones second 🥰

Only a 5 minute drive actually, it’s a small one but enough for what you need really. Although we often drive about 10 minutes to a bigger store with a bigger selection :)

How Nice to see. I love cows. But learned to Milk about 40 years ago, and never done it since. But tried to make yoghurt, mozzarella, other cheeses some years ago and I love it. Kefir too. Good luck!!!❤!
