Khichdi Recipe | Bengali Bhog wali Khichdi | Moong Dal Khichdi | Traditional Bengali Khichuri Recipe
Khichuri Recipe in Bengali Style:
Bengali "Niramish Khichuri" (Veg Khichdi) is a variant of ancient South Asian cuisine. This is an one-pot meal of Rice, Moong Dal (Lentil) and vegetables like Potatoes, Cauliflowers - all of them are tempered with rich aromatic Indian Spices. In Bengal, Khichdi is a staple food that is offered to the God during any Puja like Durga Puja, Lakshmi Puja or Saraswati Puja. This offering is called "Bhog" and the food is called as "Bhoger Khichuri". It is a pure vegan recipe without using onions and garlic, served with other Bengali delicacies like Aloo'r Dum, Fried Eggplants, Potatoes etc.
Ingredients you'll need -
1. Moong Dal - 1cup/130gm
2. Rice (Gobindobhog) - 1cup/130gm
3. Potatoes - 2
4. Tomato - 1
5. Mustard Oil - 1tbsp
6. Cauliflower - as many slices you want
7. Bay Leaf - 1
8. Dry Red Chilli - 1
9. Cumin Seeds - 1tsp
10. Cinamon - 1 Inch
11. Cardamom - 2
12. Clove - 2
13. Green Chilli - 1
14. Crushed Ginger - 2tsp
15. Coriander Powder - 2tsp
16. Cumin Powder - 1tsp
17. Turmeric Powder - 1tsp
18. Red Chilli Powder - 1/2 tsp
19. Salt - As per Taste
20. Sugar - 2tsp / as per taste
21. Water - 8Cups
22. Garam Masala Powder - 1tsp
23. Ghee - 1tsp
Apart from that this simple and easy make meal can be best enjoyed during rainy seasons - one pot full of steaming delicious aromatic "Khichuri" along with fried eggplants, potatoes and Aloo'r Dum will simply make your day!
