Very nice reaction!! But you are totally wrong about Yuri will skate for russian team, it’s totally impossible without the nationality. Yuri is Japanese. The only one thing who make change his nationality is to marie a Russian girl. (Not a man, it’s not ok in Russia to have a nationality because it’s not recognized like a real wedding) so Yuri will never could skate for Russia in Olympic games
This is good storytelling disguised as a skating romance anime. Didn't expect to enjoy this as a dude either, well played anime.

I'm halfway through the episode, but I just felt like I had to explain why Yiro won. Basically because he was already so far ahead because of how well he did in the short program, where Yuri fucked up a few times, which dragged own his score there.

Awww, that sweater is adorable! I want one. ^_^ I like that you take time to discuss and analyze the episodes. I feel like the guys are really struggling to separate their professional life from their relationship, which is why Victor was so devastated. He thought Yuuri's retirement would mean parting their ways, and I don't blame him - Yuuri is quite terrible at expressing his feelings because of his anxiety and self-esteem issues. Back in episodes 6-8 he got progressively more confident, which I attribute to something major going on between them off-screen (to put it bluntly, judging by the suggestiveness of their dialogue, I think they banged :D), and gave 2 flawless & steaming hot Eros performances. Then he stumbled in ep. 11, saw Victor enjoying other routines, and immediately thought "Oh no, I'm holding Victor back, he probably doesn't want me anymore", giving in to his crippling anxiety again. It's like "Yuuri, you idiot! Have you even seen the way Victor looks at you?"... There's enough ambiguity to interpret what's going on between the two a few different ways, but that's what I got from it. I have high hopes for what's next (be it OVA or Season 2). This anime is unbelievably engaging and addicting.
I absolutely agree with you on everything. Yuuri has the worse anxiety and I can personally relate. Viktor however shows his love a certain way and, on screen anyway, isn't that reassuring to Yuuri. They both need to just sit down, stop fawning over each other for like, 20 minutes and TALK about themselves, not just about their skating relationship. BUT, I think all of that is behind them after their duet and the fact that Yuuri lives in Russia now. I mean, did you SEE those looks?! Gah. Oh, and they definitely had sex. The signs are all there from what you mentioned to the fact that their beds are pushed together at the hotel to the scene where Yuuri is looking right next to him on his own bed wondering where Viktor had gone. While I enjoy it when writers and directors explicitly show things, I also enjoy the subtle hints and scenes they throw in so the audience can deduce on their own. It's a very interpersonal relationship between creator, characters and audience. Plus, Kubo-san stated that they have been intimate.
Someone on Tumblr said, since Yuuri coats everything in several layers of skating metaphors, that their conversation about moving in together probably went something like "Viktor, let's skate together at the same rink forever" -- "Sure, I’ll get you the keys". Legit made me spit my tea (wine) cause it's so true! :D I've seen loads of people complain that there was no explicit confession, not enough kissing, and that the show is pure queerbait because of it, which is SO baffling to me because everything is in there - you just have pay an ounce of attention and sometimes read between the lines. Although I do enjoy blatant on-screen romance, the creators' faith in the audience's ability to put all the pieces together is part of YOI's magic for me, not to mention that most of the guys' relationship is quite in your face anyway. Sorry for the long comments, I can't seem to stop talking about this show. :D Hoping to see your reactions when/if Season 2 comes out. ^__^

Hey *Anime Ushi*...you look like you might be Viktor's long lost twin sister. ^_^ What a memorable grand finale for the 1st season of Yuri On Ice! Cheers for season 2! Easily one of the greatest anime shows from this decade hands down! See you lovely ladies in the next level. ;-D

God, I'm SO thankful that I only decided to watch this anime two days ago. I binge-watched the series in two evenings cause it's so freaking good. I honestly don't know if I would've been able to handle waiting for a new episode every single week otherwise.

I have hope for Yuuri winning, because as you said, up until now he has been skating with HIS love for Viktor, but in the preview, Yuuri says he will be skating with both his AND Viktor's love. I think that is going to make a difference. Plus, I think the repeated mentions of Yuuri's unusual amount of stamina is going to help in a big way in the next episode. I just feel it. Finally, Yurio's last free skate could have ended in disaster last time. He pushed himself beyond his limits and I think if he tries that again, his body won't be able to take it and we will have something similar to JJ.
Actually, JJ's score was ridiculously high for what he did. (Also, the "top figure skaters in the world" are often prone to moments like JJ's. It's not unusual at all for them to pop jumps, have meltdowns, make errors like that, especially at high-pressure events.)

He said clearly said that they should end it AFTER the Grand Prix was over. So, I don't think he is talking about the competition (ending it). Yuuri may have only been talking about ending the coach/skater part of their relationship. However, I think, that Yuuri, being insecure, may feel that if they have ANY relationship that it will hold Victor back. However, that doesn't mean Victor will go along with it (after all, Yuuri was still denying that the rings meant anything and it was Victor who said they were engagement rings). Yuuri said in an earlier episode that he was planning to retire after this Grand Prix and that he would let Victor go as his coach at that point. Yuuri is definately in love with Victor, but he has had a crush on him for a long time that he may not believe in their relationship as "reality". Also, he may have simply wanted a memento of their time together (both his own ring and knowing that Victor had it's mate) and it was worth the money as long as Victor accepted it.
Episode 12 it will be a long espisode and Kubo (the creator ) said in her Twitter that we need to see all and play attention to all little things, I honestly believe that Victor miss skating and see the others guys make feel that way and Yuri probably noticed it and he wants to end his career.
Monserrat Poot that's what I got from it too, and I think if there's a season 2 we will see Viktor return to the ice, because it seems clear he isn't done with figure skating yet, and he seems so enthusiastic now watching other skaters new routines and getting to see routines that aren't Yuri's. I'd say he isn't cut out for coaching, he's probably grown bored of it and it shows.
For a few episodes now, Yuri has come to the conclusion that he'll retire after this season but he's never told Victor explicitly that he would. In Russia when he was alone in the snow, he was trying to psych himself up about asking Victor to step down as his coach because he would be done with figure skating. Then they're reunited at the airport and Yuri beats around the bush and says "until I retire" instead of saying when that would be. On top of that, Victor wishes he never does and then Yuri starts crying. I think it's because he knows he couldn't be honest with Victor. I also think this will be where Victor is honest with Yuri about him being done with figure skating as well. Yuri saw Victor's enthusiasm for the other skaters as him missing the sport but this is just Victor admiring the sport as a fan instead of as a competitor. They both need this talk to put everything on the table.
i had the same reaction~~ y'know just enjoying everyone's skates (freaking out abt yuuri's score and facial expression a bit), shocked by jj's nervous breakdown.... then BAM! That last line hit me like a train! I really really want to believe in all the previous episodes we've had, I am so holding on the greatness and awesome craft that kubo and the staff have done with the series so far. Please, please kubo-san, pls don't break our hearts :"(( YOI will finish airing before christmas y'know T____T But yeah, thinking logically abt all this, I'm kinda ok with this happening because one of the good things that can come out of victuuri's convo is viktor spelling out CLEARLY to yuuri abt his desires and feelings for him. As in like directly, "I love you" / "I want to spend the rest of my life with you"- kind of direct. Plus! In the preview, viktor's still wearing the ring so if something bad really went down in that convo, i doubt viktor will just throw it away. I highly DOUBT that Viktor is just gonna go along quietly abt whatever yuuri's gonna say abt a possible separation. Gotta fight for his man yo. But man, oh man, Yuuri's anxiety and his way of thinking hits so close to home. I totally understand and even familiar with his thoughts. I just wanna give him a hug. anyway, sorry for the uber long comment, im just super shaken abt 11.. gaaaah i'm gonna give you both a virtual hug~~ and to the whole yoi fandom actually *virtual hugs*

Melanie Marfiga He did not mean ending the relationship but more like ending the coach-skater relationship to officially become lovers. Yuri probably did want Viktor come back to competitive skating and winning with glory. This is unconditional and unselfish love because he set Viktor free. How Viktor proceeds and decides is another story. Nevertheless, rest assured that their relationship is pretty much solid.

I feel so blessed ^^ I don't know how my heart will take it once the series ends :"(( for the 'serious viktor hugging makkachin' scene in the preview, i feel like it's gonna be a quick flashback when he came back to japan to check on makkachin (during the rostelecom cup).. maybe it was there when he had a realization or something?? idk, i just hope it's nothing bad. anyway, i like that the last 3 eps will be in this format! the audio is better for me and you can fangirl together all the better :D win-win! looking forward to next week as well~~

Ghadiza Malika My hypothesis is that he's had a crush on Yuuri for a while and maybe didn't know how to approach him like most people with a crush do. Then the banquet happened and here comes the shy, reserved Skater who placed last completely be the life of the party, danced with Viktor and asked him to move in with him to coach him. Since Viktor didn't know Yuuri wasn't going to remember anything he thought that Yuuri himself was boldly flirting with him consciously. Like, "omg I can't believe he likes me back is this heaven?" But that night he definitely fell HARD.
I LOVE that hypothesis! I hope that's what really happen and we will see more from Victor's perspective in the last two episode I think this episode also cleared a lot of things though. At episode 2, when Yuuri running away from his advance he said "what? why are you running away?" Poor guy, he must be soo confused why he want Yuuri to dance Eros, that "dance like you're trying to seduce me" things he kept saying... oh, and Cris! he grope Yuuri in episode 6 right? I was thinking like, "ummm are they close or what?" But after seeing episode 10... pole dancing half-naked together? ok. Nevermind XD

Anime Ushi Well, I imagine some people would argue that Yuuri said it was just a friendship thing, and maybe Victor is just joking around. I've seen a lot of people trying to write everything off that has happened as just subtext, but this episode really cemented it as being legit xD
