I have a place in Kaanapali and visit often. If the islanders could tone down the mainlander bigotry that would help a lot.

They hate tourist so why even bother going. Plenty of other places in the world that openly welcomes tourist.

I'm in Connecticut and have visited Hawaii twice. On one of those trips, I visited Maui. There are mixed messages about visiting. Do local citizens in Maui want visitors or not? I've been hearing the message is to avoid Maui so the island can recover - that hotel rooms are needed to house local residents. So which is it - please come and you are welcome here or please stay away so we can recover? I think visitors want to be respectful of local wishes.
