She Moved Through The Fair
The Haar live at The David Hall. Filmed by Hands On TV handsontv.co.uk
The Haar brings the formidable singing talent of All-Ireland Scór na nÓg winner Molly Donnery combined with three of the most exciting instrumentalists on the folk and traditional music scene in Cormàc Byrne (Show of Hands/Seth Lakeman/FATEA Instrumentalist of the Year), Adam Summerhayes (Zum/Red Priest/Dodo Street), and Murray Grainger (Piers Adams/Miranda Sykes/Martin Allcock) - both of the FATEA award-winning The Ciderhouse Rebellion.
The origins of the band go back to a chance meeting between Adam, Cormac and Molly at a session at the Craiceann Bodhrán Festival. This resulted in an improvised performance recorded by the shipwreck of the Plassey on the west coast of Ireland. It was to become typical of the unique ‘live reactive composition’ that characterises their music. With the addition of master accordionist Grainger, they entered the studio at the end of 2019 to record their first album - The Haar.
The latest album, entitled Where Old Ghosts Meet received multiple rave reviews and has paved the way for outstanding festival appearances at Shrewsbury, Beardy Folk, and at other prestigious stages.
‘A sweeping panorama of Irish traditional music and song’ - Songlines
‘The Haar conjuring magic that had long been hidden in plain sight, responding melodically in a mesmerising impromptu arc of artistry’ - Irish Music Magazine
‘Very rarely does an album appear unheralded and threaten to make a major impact. The Haar is one of those rarities’ - Folking.com

Since releasing their debut album 'The Haar' in 2020, a record that caused Folk Radio UK to proclaim "we need more music like this; spontaneous, alive and affecting”, Anglo-Irish folk group The Haar have found themselves, like many of us, separated by land and by sea. This is particularly frustrating as the group rely upon intense interaction in order to produce their improvised music, in a pro...

bit.ly/TheHaarBandcamp 2021 The Haar should have been enjoying a summer of festivals, gigs and playing together, exploring the extraordinary connection they found recording their debut, eponymous album. Instead of that the lads, Adam Summerhayes, Murray Grainger and Cormac Byrne found they could not even meet Dublin-based Molly Donnery without either her or them having to spend a month in quara...

The Haar is a brand new quartet, focused on breathing new life into traditional songs about love, poverty and oppression. Fiddler Adam Summerhayes and bodhrán player Cormac Byrne had already worked together recording their 'pre-meditated' Stone Soup album in Spring 2019. Later in the year he connected, again as a duo, with accordionist Murray Grainger, as the currently very active The Ciderhous...

Too studied for my taste.
Studied,eh? You like it a bit rough then. Be careful what you wish for and mind how you go!
How did You find Your Band name- what does it mean for You?
Haunting. Evocative. This gave me goosebumps.
!!! TOP BUZZ !!!
Glad I am not the only one in the Celtic genre making spooky renditions of old songs laden with accordion and fiddle accompanied by weird oceanic videos. I LOVE YOU GUYS! Hope to see you live some day!!! ❤
Gorgeous!
two fantastic beautiful albums....come to the UK soon...love to see you live.
This is quite amazing! Discovered just as I was closing down to go to bed. Haary tune this is! Beautifully arranged. And delivered. Playing with the tune, the rhythm, the layers, the haar itself. As an accordionist, that is the kind of project i would love to engaging with.
Amazing as always!
Thank you x

Absolutely gorgeous!
Brilliant- The HAAR are gift from the COVID lockdown!
I can't wait till I can see these guys live. Heard, 'The King's Shilling' on Radio Lincolnshire and it made me stop everything, and write down their name. The album is brilliant, and Molly Donnery's voice is out of this world.
Irish culture is what will get us through! Beautiful, keep them coming. Create, Create, Create.
oh yes !
Hauntingly beautiful!
Wow - if you can record a song of this power in lockdown - I’m looking forward to hearing what you can do when you are in the same room! Gives me chills!
Beautiful!
Well done Molly!
