The waterfall at the end was a nice surprise!
It sure was!
I got my love of the wooden fishing piers from my grandparents. They are why I also use a certain brand of rods and reels.
Some of my favorite places to visit in the state!
DNR is doing a bat study
Why on earth would you build these huge houses on what amounts to a sand bar?
Million dollar question
Thanks for the video. But is it just me or is it really loud ?
You can hear it but it's not as loud when you're in the tub. You only run the jets when your in it.
We did Black Balsam Knob and Tennent Mt a couple years back. Some of the best views I've seen. Took Ivestor back to make it a loop as you mentioned. Got tired of walking in that v-trench with head high brush. Glad to see some trial maintenance.
Great hike!
Great accomplishment man. We are headed to Grandfather tomorrow. I've been looking for the easiest route to any of the peaks. Those ladders at MacRae Peak scare me. These look more my speed. Thanks for sharing.
This route is definitely easier and safer than the Grandfather trail. Thanks for watching.
@@Kcterry We ended up doing Calloway via Profile Trail today. Thanks for the inspiration. We'll do Daniel Boone Scout in the Fall.
@tchall8153 awesome!
Beautiful trail but a little difficult for me (70) with all the uphill steps. The younger ones had no problem.
You're doing much better with your videos your turns are much slower makes viewing better doesn't make me dizzy lol
So beautiful. Had no idea North Carolina had such an abundance of scenic places until I found your channel.
I've only scratched the surface. Thanks for tuning in!
I wonder why you cant fiah the pier
You can now
This video has me in tears. My family vacationed at The Reef from the mid-1980's until our last visit in 1998. I have the best memories here and so many pictures of it in its prime. I hope someday it can be restored!
It's been restored already! This is an older video.
This is not beach erosion. It is the barrier "islands" natural sandbar migration. They migrate Westwards.
I lived in Rodanthe for many years its very beautiful and this happens way more than people realize. An entire restaurant fell into the ocean there.
it does seem to be happening more and more.
Loved the little facts at the start
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed!
Is this excursion elderly friendly
Is this excursion scooter friendly
It might be a challenge for a scooter
Nice!
This is due to the sand theft off shore that is happening everywhere and is not regulated at all.
Yes, the water will change the sand and bars and inlets and outlets. Living on Tampa Bay my whole life, I have seen small bars disappear and new inlets form from storms. But I have also seen many many beaches replenishing on both sides of the state of Florida. These homes can be saved through breakwater formation and sand replenish. All the sand in the back was in front of the homes, push it back to build waterbreaks, and dredge in sand. It's is an easy fix they the government doesn't want to do it. We have built modern miracles. Hoover Dam levies for the Mississippi New Orleans.
People are stupid, building on shifting sand
Thanks for this. Great capture of the sunset, great memories of wrightsville beach.
Thank you!
AWESOME VIDEO!
Thank you sir!
Any development or house not built on skids so it can be dragged away is by definition an ill-considered development on a barrier island. In the old days house lots ran from sea side to bay side so you could hook up the oxen and haul your house on logging skids back away from the ocean as the sand shifts and the spit moves. Those houses had outhouses and shallow wells (suitable far away from the out house) and of course no electric power or paved roads.
Definitely old days
Well first of all NO ONE should be able to build homes in locations like that. The land out there on the outer banks is constantly moving. It's "sand", it's a barrier island. But you can't tell those "damn Yankees" nothing. And the same BS goes on from Atlantic Beach to Emerald Isle NC. People build homes right on the beach. Then the local government raised taxes to do "beach renourishment". Basically they pump muck sand from the sound and dump it on the beach to try and compete with the mighty ocean. It's all pointless. 🇺🇸🫡🧑🏭
That's from my yatch club dumbass thought he knew what he was doing
I ve been past the pier caught in an undertow at age 9.Many , many years ago. Remained calm, watched my life flash in front of me- plenty scared. Thankfully I eventually made it back to shore - on a windy day.
Sounds pretty scary to me!
So sad
My wife and I were in buxton for our honeymoon in 2019. Even then, the roads were constantly closed. People couldn't get to their properties and were stuck in hotels all over. They were in great spirits, however, but the one gentleman and his wife looked like they had some sort of sinking feeling then. Said that it was their last year there. I hope they are doing well. Thank you for the video!!!!
Thanks for watching.
Looks great! Nice video!
Thank you! It's an impressive pier.
Loved your video - wonderful ocean footage made me want to be there. There is a video from Jan 2024 by Epic Shutter that shows the Sands at Dawn house being moved back. Such a crazy amount of work and it's only 115 feet back so the ocean is still coming for it. I recognized it from your video and the Black Pearl is in the background
Thank you! It's definitely crazy!
So sad! Iconic! The city needs to pay the money to move it
Climate change or, if you're a republican...THE HAND OF GOD! Seriously who builds a house on sand? Apart from one of the three little pigs!
Owners should have removed it before it became a pollution hazard
Easier said than done
This beach looks 2 wheel drive. It’s flat and packed until you hit the hills. Kure beach/Fort Fisher is much worse than this
air down!
Cool 😀
Is that round trip 5.3 or one way?
Round-trip
@@Kcterry thank you!
Love your videos…so nice to hear the ocean any time of the year and the views…of which some of us will not come there to see. Beautiful homes, what a joy it must be to have memories there.
Thanks for your comment. Sights and sounds of the ocean are hard to beat!
@@Kcterry You’re welcome, really enjoy your videos and updates and your calm nature. Be well. 🧡
Its so sad to see how much they destroyed. The trail was so easy except at one spot that they easily couldve put a ladder in like at grandfather mountain. Sorry, if people couldnt make it on flat ground like before, they cant make it on these steps.
That could've been fun
It was very fun. The whole area was beautiful and that little rock climb you had to do to reach the upper trail was just enough of a challenge for shorter people that i was really proud of myself for making it finally. I had a little more support than the previous times I'd gone and was easily able to do once they showed me how. And I wasn't in shape lol so they could've easily put in a ladder up there and it would've been easier than 500 steps lol
What is so appealing about living on the outer banks or the keys in Florida?
That's a good one.
GREAT POV! Love this!
Thank you!
We took in Coyote Falls this week. It had been raining off and on for several days. There is still some Mountain Laurel in bloom. There wasn't a person around. The falls were quite spectacular and no doubt so owed to the rain of the past few days. Given there is no real marker for these falls, it sure is spectacular, which show just how abundant they are throughout the western NC mountains.
It's a nice one and fairly easy to access!
This will help us not to get lost. The video is kind of like Google Maps for trails! Thanks.
Thank you!
I hate seeing these homes get taken by the ocean.
Nice job man 👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you
You're welcome 😎
I believe this is a replacement ‘ Pagoda’ to replace the one damaged in the Irene Hurricane of sept. 2018!
I believe you are right.
I was there in early May, 2018, and sat under the old Pgoda which had a hefty structure and was designed to serve drinks certain times of the day.
Looks neat.
Thank you for actually showing the falls for several minutes, instead of the usual ten seconds other channels tend to show!
Love the falls!
How do you get to it? What is the location of the parking lot or something? Thanks Edit: Actually I've got it, looks like the same old place but with an updated trail or something?
Yes, same access point but modified trail for safety.
Should have to remove it rather than polluting the environment.
