Kaowool Furnace Build
In this video, I take you through the process of building my new furnace from scratch. I chose a kaowool furnace because they are very simple to build and very lightweight. Total cost was about $390, and $300 of that was in the custom welding. So if you know how to weld, this furnace is incredibly cheap to build.
This furnace is INCREDIBLY well-insulated. After the first use seen in the video, it was still too hot to touch the interior after FOUR HOURS! The exterior was just warm. It also heated up to aluminum melting temperature very quickly. I'm very satisfied with how it came out.
The mason jar mixing system was inspired by @PaulsGarage.

Yeah the impurities are sodium chloride or potassium chloride since you converted it but You're never going to get anywhere near the theoretical yield doing this process The only real way to do this efficiently is through electrochemical reaction and even then you're going to have to do many steps to achieve a really efficient cell like balancing pH non-stop I once built an automatic pH adjustment system which was a big pain in the ass it wasn't worth it but it was nice once it was done

  • @christopherleubner6633

Use sodium borate and boric acid eact with magnesium and aluminum. The reaction is not as violent. You do get more boride but lots more boron. You want the reducing agent in slight excess. The reaction yeilds boron sodium metal vapor sodium oxide, hydrogen, sodium metal vapor magnesium oxide borides of both aluminum and magnesium and aluminum oxide.. to purify mix with dilute HCl adding more until it stays acidic. Rinse twice then react with NaOH and let marinate for a few days. You will be left with technical grade boron. ❤

I never considered an acid to start the flame - I use the chlorate for making colored smoke bombs, and the idea of having a small ampule inside that breaks and starts the reaction when you "throw" the grenade seems appealing (although, not safe at all - the pull tabs I use now are much safer).

It might be able to get up to copper temperature as-is. It could really use some improvement to hold heat in, though. Maybe wrap it with rigidized kaowool or surround it with fire bricks. Also you'd need a better crucible - mine failed after a couple melts.

From 2024. Remember: chlorine gas reacts with an aqueous solution of sodium hydroxide and the first products are sodium hypochlorite and sodium chloride, while temperature raises. So heating a solution of sodium hypochlorite allows the inverse reaction: NaCl + NaClO -> NaOH + Cl2 (1). Even if you have a pure NaClO solution the following equilibrium exists: NaClO + H2O <-> NaOH + HClO (2) and very unstable acid 2HClO <-> 2HCl + O2 (3) and HCl + NaOH <-> NaCl + H2O (4). So every conditions for (1) are present. Perhaps it's more effective dropping a concentrated sodium hydroxide solution.

Please help me 🙏 I'm confused in the distillation method, Exactly when taking pure substances I deliberately used a sample of medicine that had 5 ingredients in it, after I finished extracting it, then I filtered it and got the residue & filtrate. But I'm confused about how to separate the purity of these substances using the Distillation method, even though I have recorded the boiling points of the 5 substances, here are the boiling points: Substance A > Boiling point: 400 °C Substance B > Boiling point: 260°C Substance C > Boiling Point: 379 °C Substance D > Boiling point: 520 °C Substance E > Boiling point: 232 °C For example, if I want to get the purity of substance B, how do I do it ?? 🤔🤔🤔 Who knows, someone might be able to tell, 🙏

perhaps you can use swimming pool chlorinator, it comes as a powder. Not sure if it’s pure NaClO3. Also bleach comes with a small amount of sodium hydroxide, presumably to offset the chlorine in the water turning into hydrochloric acid. Probably irrelevant with all that sodium chloride present.
