This ending explains that with Mr Peabody's death, Sherman and Penny have no clue on how to travel back to the present, after trying several attempts to activate the machine just to return to the present, it broke down and has became damaged beyond repair, meaning that they have no way back home, which means that they will remain trapped in Ancient Greece forever and will continue their lives in this dangerous era.

Whenever I watch this, just the way Sherman yells "DAD" it always makes me tear up. 😥
