However, at 5:11, (last two beats, third last bar), the performance is incorrect - the harmony should be G7 as shown in the score, and not Cmaj, unlike the earlier sets in preceding bars. This is what provides the satisfaction of the final perfect cadence at the end of the Rach 2.

Today I found a copy of this sheet music on sale for $2 and picked it up. I only had time tonight to listen to the first half of the set, but each one delighted or touched me in its own way. These are amazing pieces. I think Kabalevsky and some others will be more appreciated in the classical music world now that people are less obsessed with a competition to be the most cutting-edge etc.

I want to like this piece more but it gets rather repetitive following similar progressions throughout. Choo's piece has some really interesting and spicy harmonies that this piece lacks. I almost think dance would be a better title as well.

Biegel makes this music the best it can be along w the conductor. I dont like this old fashioned movie sounding kitsch stuff. But hats off to Anderson for being able yo write it.Wonderful to hear it for a 2nd time. The harmonies never get outlandish everything stays in a LasVegas mode.1953 it certainly IS!

why 1st piece is playing 1 tone higher?

write 6 pieces in total and you can title it "seggs klavierstücke". Or alternatively, write 6 variations on the theme and you can title it "Seggs variationen"

Just terrible unimaginative and uninspiring set of etudes. The world would loose nothing if they never existed.ugh...

It's the moments that sound "in tune" (as one might put it) that stand out. Every now and then you hear a moment like that, and it's almost more jarring than the "out of tune" stuff that fills 99.9 of this music. It's utterly fascinating. The double chromatic descent in #4 is truly unnerving, in a good way.
