Not if it's double locked. You could be sitting inside the car and you still aint getting out. Better find the keys.

I will have to try this method with my bmw with the window open to see if it will release the lock. I'm not a locksmith so I can't try with the tools but this method sounds interesting

This is an old question... But Yes - used keys can be purchased on Ebay, but you need an experienced locksmith that can reflash it to Virgin state in order to program it to another vehicle

@@ammreid That may be true but I asked the dealer if I purchased a used one could they reprogram it to may car? He said it is not possible because they are designed to only be programmed once. He said even if you buy a brand new one and make a mistake and program it incorrectly it would have to be thrown away and get a new one and start over. If what you're saying is true that means a locksmith can do something the dealer can't even do. And there's no locksmith within 100 miles of me that I can call that has those skill sets. They don't want to invest in specialized equipment for a car that it sees less than once a year. The other problem is even if you somehow reprogrammed a used key fob, the metal key wouldn't work. It requires proprietary cutter from Germany that's not for sale.

@@hellbent7062 which area(city) are you located? maybe no skilled locksmith in your area. The dealer many times don't know and even if they do know, they only want to sell you a $400- $500 part from them. It is true, that once you program a key to a car, then it cannot be used for another vehicle - however, there is an exception, that is if someone has tools to reflash (virginize) basically wipe all the data off the old key, then it's possible to program to another vehicle, I do it all the time. I just did a 2017 Cayman and 2015 Macon over the past 10 days. Reflashing a used key only takes a couple minutes, and programming a key to a Porsche takes about 25-30mins.. The only process that takes long is removing the BCM from under the dashboard... this is required to program a key, its not as simple as most cars where you can just connect a Scan tool to the OBDII connector. Oh and the metal emergency key - that's nothing, it only takes a couple minutes to duplicate your original key onto a new blank emergency key. I stumbled across this video looking for Porsche Key programming videos to see what was out there, because I've been asked twice now by a client to make one, which I'll probably do tomorrow because there isn't much on youtube.

Now that I think about it, I do remember one guy that told me he could reprogram a used Porsche key to my car but 2 things happened. 1) He charged nearly the same thing as the dealer which defeated the whole purpose. 2) He asked me to send him pictures of the Key and he never called me back. At that point I lost both confidence and trust in him. My question to you is..How do you get the key code for car from the BCM without a PIWIS Tester? Porsche won't give it out without a dealer license and they told me they get the code from Germany. Next question... Once you got a blank emergency key, how did you cut it to match the original locks in the car? A normal key cutter won't do it. Last question; Are you saying you can reprogram a used key to a Panamera yourself? I wish I had this information last year. However, I did get kinda lucky. I found a dealer in Michigan that had new key fobs on sale for half price. But it was still expensive to complete the process.

@@hellbent7062 That person probably asked for a picture of your key to determine which key you actually have, some key fobs for Porsche are (3) or (4) buttons. Also what is important is the FCC# on your key and the Frequency System you have, which can be seen if you pull out the emergency key and battery cover from the back. The FCC# is under the batter cover... and the Frequency can be seen if you pull out the emergency key..it will either say 315MHz or 434MHz. As for the "Key Code" that's easy to get just from reading/scanning your existing metal key.. its done on a laser key cutting machine...once it reads you existing key, its easy to cut a new blank blade.There are a couple specialty BCM programmers out there, that can read your BCM without PIWIS and program a new key. When I said I do it all the time, I meant I program keys everyday(locksmith), not meaning just anyone can do it. Depending on the system in customers car, we charge between $160 - $275 for Porsche Keys.
