Thanks for sharing !
You're welcome! There's a lot more check it out!
When i try to connect 1215C PLC it was not possible to connect. it says " The Connected CPU is currently not supported as IO Controller for the G130 CU320-2 PN. Disconnect the master system." do you have any idea on that?
That is strange. What version of Portal, FW on the PLC, and FW of the G130 are you using?
@@jasonwattsae Yeah. With G120 it was easy to communicate. so we thought G130 also possible. unfortunately, SIEMENS doesn't share same good feature in their components. 😞 I Tried with both V17 and V18. CPU 1215C V4.5 and G130 CU320-2 PN V5.1 Any clue?
Unfortunately, I have never tried to use a 1200 cpu with a G130, only 300 and 1500. It sounds like a software restriction, which they may have introduced with later firmware versions on the G130. I would try lower versions of G130FW (4.x) as there were major changes in 5.x that included some licensing and restrictions...
@@jasonwattsae I will try a lower version. thanks!
Always welcome!
me too a SIEMENS preacher, and i am wondering if there is a chance a little tiny chance that i can work with you at your small company in the future!
Thomas! It's been so long since I've seen you in chat! Its good to hear from you! We are growing every day! My plan is to have it to where one day we can work with "Alpha Engineers" all over the world. I just have to get the pieces in place and make sure to do well on everything we do. So hang in there and keep learning!
@@jasonwattsae i will do so thats a promise

Thanks for sharing. Literally installed a trace on a plc about 6 hrs ago. Multi device is great but long term traces are things I need to explore way more. Great stuff! Great feature for the webserver too. Was watching the comms on an F-Safe I-Device.
I will say, there are a couple things that I love about Portal, Technology Objects, and Trace are at the top of the list!
Hello Jason. Very good video, you explain things that are written in many pages of Siemens manuals, very useful for me at this moment. I have a question: How can we track signals from PLC that are in parameters. I mean, if we have a telegram from the PLC to an axis, how can I track the signals?
Glad it was helpful! czcams.com/users/livespLxohsd4T8?si=dqv0zq5wvDhV9CM6 Check out that viedo. I think it has the most complete explanation, but there are a couple more that show how to use custom PLC Datatypes and making tags that point to the address of the telegram. There are some parameters that you have to use SINA_PARA for, which you can find a couple videos (and shorts) on here...
20:15 For me the folder "Drivers & Starters" doesn´t contain "SINAMICS drives"
You need to install the free add-in called Startdrive. Search for it on the Siemens Support site for the same version of Portal that you are using.
Thank you. Your video is really useful !!!!!!!! Pointers in Siemens , Is really complicated issue
Yes! It is by far the most powerful yet complicated topic out there! I'm glad this was helpful!
Thank you very much for the explanation!!! Greetings from Brazil
You are very welcome! Glad you found it!
20 minutes turned to an hour... oops... 😅
good lecture Mr Jason, I appreciate the very focused view to control engineering issues.
I appreciate it! I'm glad it was helpful! Try to catch a livestream and join the conversation!
This software not available now, automation selection tool is the alternative?
Oh no! The day has finally come! Ok, I will see if I can get a download and make the final version available here. TIA Selection Tool has replaced SIZER for specification... I will try and go through and do some training on it asap.
I have updated the description with a share of the final version.
Hi 👋 Great content 👌 Is it possible to have your contact details for future inquiries?
Thanks! Join the Discord (link is in the channel description) and drop a message! That is the best way to get in touch!
you did a good job man...
I appreciate it! I do plan on doing more on this. I have to get a load resistor first though... check out all the other stuff as well!
I find this helpful. Thank you alot!
I'm glad it was helpful!
Hi Jason, thank you very much for this video, you've really helped me understand! I have a quick question about the connection between each drive: should I use straight or crossed internet connectors?
Straight Through Cables or Crossover Cables*
I'm glad it was helpful! Both G120 and S120s use standard cables (Straight).
👍
🫡 check out the stream!
I will, thanks!!!😊

If your dad is Randy then he taught me a lot with what little time I was around him.
That is him! Everyone who has had the opportunity to learn from him says the same thing! I got lifetime access and he always returns my calls!🤣
Would be great to see you talking in depth about DCM and those related CUD, thanks a lot, appreciated.
I'm definitely going to be talking about DCM. I've still been having trouble with my ProfiBus adapter so there might not be any online work, but I will go through as much as I can offline! Hope to see you there!
Waiting to see you back
I need to figure out a way to do "less professional" streams while I am on the road. At least so we can have some regular content...
Hi, in case you're wondering why I didnt subscribe this month. I had to change teams. And I'm team Beckhoff now:) Thanks for your time and effort to share your knowledge. It's so awesome. Wanted to wish you luck but hard work beats luck every time;) See ya!
Fake news. Im still subscribed;) didnt see right. But I'll be sighnig out soon. thanks again.
Well, I have heard only good things about Beckhoff, so you should be able to really do some cool stuff. You are always welcome to come to chat. There is a lot of stuff I talk about that applies to everyone. Especially this week!
DC Drives are not that common but I have seen rooms that are full of them in Steel plants. Soo exited about this stream!
Yes! That is where I see them the most as well. This should be a good stream! I am having to refresh my memory on them, but it is quickly coming back! Which... I got my profibus adapter and am communicating with the drive right now!
thank you so much. this video helped me a lot
You are very much welcome! Check out the rest of the channel, there is a lot more info available as you get going with Siemens drives!
Dear sir please explain next instruction like mc_cam and all others
I am trying to catch up on edited videos, but check out the livestream below for a little bit more info. czcams.com/users/live4OgkwM2zseE?si=g9hv174MQKh_SL2r
You don't like scale x norm x?)))
Honestly, I have just done my scaling manually since the beginning so I don't even think about it😅. Just a boomer stuck in my ways.
I see 😀where are you from Jason? I'm watching you with big interest, and one interesting question, why do you put to your background old wall? 😀
I love to hear that these are helpful. I grew up in rural Alabama but I live in Atlanta now. As for the background, I still have the brick "wall", but I am planning on making my lab a little cooler here soon...
@@jasonwattsae That's great. I hope you will make your awesome lab as you want. Good luck Jason. Can i contact you in any urgent situation?
@Automation_Engineer_ join the Discord and there is a helpdesk that people help each other out with issues. I try to do my best to help as much as possible but I do have a lot taking my time at the moment.
Thank you as always, Jason. I was also waiting for the video on safety, and coincidentally, you went live with it just two days ago! It was my day off, so I fell asleep, but I plan to watch it again, haha. By any chance, are you familiar with things provided by Siemens, such as LaxisCtrl or PLC data types like PD_xxx_xxx, DX_xxx_xxx, or TO_Struct_xxx?
Haha. It's OK. My wife has a similar reaction to my videos 😜. Next time, just put my live streams on, and when you fall asleep just let them play. That way the channel gets the watch hours! 🤣 Seriously, though, I am actually really familiar with the LaxisCtrl library and the PD data types. I taught a class with LaxisCtrl when they first came out with them. As for the PD types, I have mentioned them quite a few times on my streams. Is there something specific you are looking for?
@@jasonwattsae Thanks for the response, Jason 😎 Of course! Haha, it's only fair to give back when you receive something! I'll gladly do that~ By the way, I have just joined the membership. I didn't realize you had already mentioned it in other streams. I'm sorry, it looks like I need to watch all your videos carefully first. The answers I'm looking for might already be in those streams. 😎 Of course, I might still have additional questions! The saying "More haste, less speed" comes to mind. Thank you so much, have a great week, Jason! 👍
Thank you for your support! I haven't made it easy to find information recently because I haven't had time to add chapters. There is a ton of information that is just part of a bigger discussion that you would really have to dig to find so I don't mind helping at all.
As always crazy good info. Thanks.
I appreciate it! This is a passionate subject for me! Thank you for your support!
Thank God for another wonderful masterpiece, This is my favorite part of Automation Engineering SAFETY.
I might have gotten carried away a little bit about STO...😅
@@jasonwattsae Disagree. It was all on point;)
Hopefully someone will be able to get some helpful information. I've had some close calls and see so many systems that are not well thought out that I get a little worked up.
Thanks for your sharing! Has your company hired a foreign industrial engineer?
We have worked with non-us based engineers in the past, but it is limited in what they can do since we have local engineers available for on site work. We are working towards creating a way for non-residents can take part in our projects so stay tuned!
Hello Jason, i cant find the link in the description for the software download, thanks.
I have updated the description, but here is the current link! support.industry.siemens.com/cs/document/109820994
@@jasonwattsae Appreciate it
@@ubuntux22 No problem! Thanks for pointing it out!
@@jasonwattsae The connection process with a simulated PLC is the same? Any chance on doing a quick tutorial in the future on that topic? that would be great. Almost all my experience is with AB systems, but the company is thinking on adquiring some Siemens controllers in the future. Was wondering if i can emulate a system just like in Studio 500 Logix Emulate just for testing/learning purposes.
As long as you have PLCSIM installed, you can just click on "start simulation" and it will start up a virtual PLC. Your TIA Portal license covers PLCSIM. You can do anything you can do with the plc and HMI. So you can use watch and force tables to modify values. Look in one of my livestreams where I go through them. My next edited video is going to be about PLCSIM...
i appreciate you ! I will watch all your videos!
Thank you! There are a lot to go through! It might be tough, but I try to make it to where people around the world can join live. See you in the comments!
Very informative, thank you. But frankly tedious as hell. Could you rehearse and edit please. That would save 50%.
I have a lot of edited videos on almost everything I talk about in this video. Check them out! This is also the second ever livestream I did. I have been slowly improving through the years to make them a little better.
Always appreciate the help from your streams, Jason. Keep up the good work. Thank you !!!
Thank you for the support! I'm glad that these are helpful!
Jason you beauty. What a service to the people who love industrial automation
🤣 you must have bad eyes. Either way thank you for your kinds words. Hopefully, this stream was helpful!
Thank You Jason for the great Knowledge... Truely appreciate your hard work... Also waiting for your camming video eagerly... Thanks
Thank you for your support! I am trying to get to where I can have some real equipment for the Motion 102 class. I have the space, ive just been spending so much time on the road lately. In the meantime, be sure to check out the section on camming in the Motion 101 stream!
your style of presentation is un-comparable (100% sophistication)

Lol. I can hardly get through a 30second video myself if it's not talking about Siemens Drives!🤣 Take it in pieces. You can always come back on your breaks!
True masterpiece, thanks a lot Jason, please carry on.
I appreciate it! I hope you find something helpful!
I will use time to watch this stream.
There's plenty to come back to in this one! I'll try not to take as long off in the future! I hope you find something helpful!

I'm looking forward to talking about this stuff for sure!
Hello Jason waiting for your next video... When will you put the next video
I plan on going live in about 5 hours. It's been too long I know!
