      Hi. The Dart is only on the 14-30 size range of patterns. if you think you need to do an fba and add a dart we have a tutorial on our blog you can look at.

    Great visuals on this compact and neat presentation. Thank you. I do quilt and sew garments which leads to a very large stash! I use the comic book storage method for my batik fabrics and store them in bids that fit that size. My q.cottons are folded to 6” wide 12” deep to fit my wire shelving (not a good choice I’ve discovered). The folding systems in both methods works well and I think yours will be great for my garment fabric.

    I'm wondering why sometimes you treat the edges with a stay stitch and sometimes you serge/zigzag. I'm new enough to sewing that I can't tell when you've done one over the other. I think understand the reason for stay-stitching, and the reason for serging/zig-zag. But I don't know why you chose one and not the other. Thanks!!

    • @truebias
      @truebias Před 3 měsíci

      Hi. Thats a great question. So whenever we are staystitching it is to keep the fabric from stretching out during construction and before it is sewn to another another piece of fabric in a later step. So for instance, the top of the main bodice is staystitched so it doesn't get stretched out, but it doesn't need to be surged because those edges will be completely covered by the full lined bodice. The serging or zigzag stitching is to keep a raw edge from unraveling later. Sometimes we do this before sewing to another piece of fabric and sometimes after - depending on how the construction is coming together and when we will have access to those seams. Does this make sense?

    • @truebias
      @truebias Před 7 měsíci

      Thanks so much! I like an elongated zigzag or lighting bolt stitch. I like it to look as much like a straight stitch as possible so usually something like 0.5mm in width and around 3 mm in length.
