I'm 14 and I made the trike for a school project and it has been great ever since. I started by buying some GREAT plans off Brad Graham and Kathy McGowan, Atomic Zombie Extreme Machines. Within 6 months it was rolling happily down the road.

    Hello, I saw your video of the recumbent bicycle and I bought the atomic zombie plans but I do not know the diameters of the tubes or the kind of tube in them, which is for example if it is made or aluminum and the diameter of the tubes either It is specified, it would be a lot to ask you to tell me the diameter of the fork tubes and those of the rest of the bike so that I can start assembling one, as I said, I only understand the length of the tubes and how they are placed but the diameter and the kind of iron that is not coming or I have not seen it, thanks in advance a greeting.

    Try a sliding bb from Velomobiel.nl Call and order. Add a lil’ class to it. 40mm x 40 mm square tube. Try tiller steer. And try 3 twenty inch wheels. Climb like a bitch if ya live in the hills. SRAM equipment only. Sturmey Archer front drum brakes/90mm. Shut-up & order it or but on ebay. Classic trike. Vitisit seat. Front fenders from me. On ebay too.

    is this bike better than the traditional normal bike (on two wheels ) ? why?

    • @Foxmonkeyful
      @Foxmonkeyful Před 9 lety

      It's better and worse. It's better because you can put more power into the pedals because you can push against a seat. It's also a lot more fun to ride than a normal bike and a lot more comfortable. One disadvantage though it that it is quite big and hard to transport by car.

      Chris Fox Thank you chris :) so I think I'll start design one soon . by allah wish.

    Nice bike...some questions though? Is it just the same as bicycle keeping pedal cadence? Can you gear it low enough for uphills, but still good for on the flat? I have a lung/breathing problem so no cycles for me, this looks do-able though. Cheers

    What was your total costs for these plans? Donor bikes, tools, things of that nature before I decide to grab the plans and get to it?

    • @Foxmonkeyful
      @Foxmonkeyful Před 10 lety

      Plans were £16 if I remember correctly. My dad owns a work shop so I didn't need to buy any tools. The only other costs was the bike I brought for £100 (I used this bike for spare parts like the brake cables and rear wheel), some hubs for £32, spray paint, extra disc brake £20 and some other small parts. Overall, the cost came to about £300. That may be more if you need to buy a welder and other equipment which I did not need to.

    • @bentstrider
      @bentstrider Před 10 lety

      Cheap parts and donor bikes are pretty easy to come by out here. But I live in an apartment, so the only way I could work on things is in the front of my place near the driveway. That and the necessary tools will be pretty loud and bright to get the job done. Welding's also going to be a bit of a problem not just for the cost of the machine, but also my welding skills as well. Took a few welding classes a few years ago and found that my hands shake pretty bad.

    • @Foxmonkeyful
      @Foxmonkeyful Před 10 lety

      bentstrider What you could do is cut out all the steel parts and take them to welding specialist who could probably weld them together for you. That may be quite costly though.

    • @bentstrider
      @bentstrider Před 10 lety

      Chris Fox I make enough money to have someone do it, but seeing as I almost became good at it, I'll try it again.

  • @Foxmonkeyful
    @Foxmonkeyful Před 11 lety

    Thanks :) I only worked on it at weekends. So if I worked every day, I could have built it in a month or so... The key to building it fast is having all the parts ready to work with

  • @Foxmonkeyful
    @Foxmonkeyful Před 11 lety

    I bought a £100 mountain bike from a local bike shop. I took it apart and used the parts off it such as the break levers and wires etc. the remaining parts i got from the internet.

    Can I find these plans in torrent for free? I think these plans should be shared not sold.

    • @Streifenprinz
      @Streifenprinz Před 7 lety

      why shouldn't they be sold??? Have you ever tried to invent sth like this recumbent? It is lot's and lot's of work and the developer is so kind and sells them for extremely low price....

    This is really inspiring. Thanks for posting! You wrote it took 6 months to build. Did you then work all day everyday or? I have purchased the plans and plan on building a velomobile out of it! Thanks again for posting!

      don't know wether you're still interested or not, but if not perhaps sb else can profit from the information xD -> i found a guy who buid it in just 8 weeks, so i think that he just didn't work very often on it :D

  • @Foxmonkeyful
    @Foxmonkeyful Před 13 lety

    @BooKittyRadley Yes, there is a brake on the rear wheel. I had to connect the 2 front brake cables to one leaver but its fine and has an excellent stopping distance.
