It’s really sad that Hyundai wasn’t really willing to do anything to help but the real problem is the state of California the officer issuing the ticket, as well as the state referee. Dude flat out lied and said the dealer is gonna have to remove track mode which is absolute BS as well as the prices he pulled out of his rear. And he was absolutely delighted to potentially completely ruin somebody financially. I personally don’t know too many people who can afford to have a $37000+ car they make monthly payments on to just sit around and do nothing. All while he didn’t do anything illegal, and the car is completely stock! You would literally think there was some sort of personal issue between the driver and officer if you didn’t know any better!

Hyundai is a trash company. I would never buy, accept as a gift, or even drive one of their vehicles. They showed their true colors in 2005 when one of their executives killed an Orange County musician named Ryan "Dallas" Cook while driving under the influence. The executive ran from the scene of the accident and the other executives in the Fountain Valley HQ of Hyundai spirited the executive out of the country immediately. The US was forced to extradite the executive back to the US to stand trial which took over 3 years. Hyundai fought the extradition the whole time.

The dealership told the owner not to drive on the road in track mode. If there’s a law about this, I’ll even bet the owner signed a statement telling him this. The kid did it anyway. I don’t think a ticket alone will stop him from doing it again. Just like all these four-wheel-drive SUVs built for off-road that never leave the pavement, his track car will never see a track. It’s wrong building stock cars for the highways with this ability that people can’t handle for the roadways.

You would think there’s enough instances like this to file a class action against the state.

I don't think that the state properly tested the car when they measured the noise level. I believe that the state is required, per its own procedures, to first start the car and have it operating in whatever the normal default driving mode is, not switching to the loudest track or sport mode for the purpose of failing the vehicle. It's obvious that the state was trying to cover for the cop's mistake in issuing a ticket because the car had a track mode. According to the state and cop logic, every car registered in this state that had track mode as an option should have its registration revoked. Do we punish drivers whose cars have the capability of achieving very high speeds on the roads and require everybody to have a speed governor that limits speed to 65 mph?

Buying a new Hyundai? Just say NO!

So, according to the cop, it's illegal to drive a car in the state that has a track mode. If that's the case, then all of the car owners in California who have cars with factory-installed track mode should have their registrations suspended.

fwk i just financed a hyundai elantra n with hyundai motor finace. after doing some research im screwed. hmf has bad service 1 star and warranty claims get declined 90% of the time. 😢

Those that purchase ANY vehicle from Hyundai/Kia are just asking to get ripped off. I will never buy one.

Has anyone experienced “losing” the octane learning? I just bought an Elantra N (6MT). I was hitting the 18-19 psi on the original tank of gas. Then I filled up when it was nearly empty with 93 octane Shell. Drove to work the next morning (it’s a 45 mile commute of mostly interstate). The car octane learned successfully, as I was hitting the 18-19 psi/boost on the way home that day. Fast-forward a couple of days. I’m off work and take the car for a backroad drive, and now it’s limited to 15-16 psi. What’s going on?
