    • @Chatterboxquilts

      I don't use water in my irons but usually you can use regular tap water. Check to see if the iron manufacturer recommends regular (tap) or distilled water.

    OMG! I am making a gymnastics leotard for my granddaughter and the machine ate the four way stretch fabric. So annoying! It took about 15 minutes to take the face plate off and I carefully used a seam ripper to remove the stitches without tearing the fabric. I practiced on scraps before my project, no worries. I was able to sew four seams before this happened. I added my walking foot and it is feeding better. I will add the header too. Thank you for the tips!

    Question: Is there a noticable difference in weight for the two sides--plain fabric half versus the multiple selvage stitched strips triangle? Combining the blocks, would this make "waves" for wall hangings, projects, quilts, etc.?

    • @Chatterboxquilts
      @Chatterboxquilts Před 6 dny

      I don't find them that much heavier. It would be similar to using different types of fabrics in a block, such as cotton, silk, corduroy, denim, etc.

    Thanks for the great explanation. I am however terribly tension-challenged 😢. I have a Janome Continental M7 and am very pleased with the Auto-tension 😅. So if I have to adjust the tension while using invisible thread, what do I adjust it to? I hope you find time to help me here … Thanks so much.

    • @Chatterboxquilts
      @Chatterboxquilts Před 5 dny

      I tend to loosen the top tension just a bit for invisible thread but you might not need to. First try stitching and see if the tension is okay. If it is, you don't need to do anything but if you find that the bobbin thread is pulling to the top, reduce the top tension a bit. Try again and adjust as needed. Don't be afraid to adjust tension - just do it a bit at a time until you get that sweet spot! 😉

    • @Chatterboxquilts
      @Chatterboxquilts Před 5 dny

      Not sure what is happening and it might be that you need to take your machine in for repair but first, check to ensure that your bobbin is in the correct way - we all make this mistake once in awhile 😉. Hold the top thread when pressing the needle up/down button to bring up the bobbin thread. If this still doesn't help, I think that your machine needs some help.

    I know this is an old video but I hope you will answer this comment. I have had my M7 for quite awhile and it did not come with a blue dot bobbin case. One of the reasons I purchased the machine was to do some ruler work. I had nothing but thread breakage when trying to do it. Is this blue dot bobbin case really necessary?

    • @Chatterboxquilts
      @Chatterboxquilts Před 14 dny

      The blue dot bobbin case will help with the thread tension. If you are finding that you are having thread breakage, it may be that your free motion quilting foot is set too high so you could lower it a bit and see if that works. Check out my video on that at czcams.com/video/qBDV3p5eV3Q/video.htmlsi=so90Nl7eru1lc1HY
