Saluti dall' italia !

Great Thank you.
What is the canister on top of the wing?
It’s a Ballistic Parachute Recovery System. I can’t remember the make but it’s like the US BRS or the Czech GRS systems. Pull the handle and a parachute deploys bringing the aircraft and occupants safely down.
@@LSFSWow. I was initially thinking that, but convinced myself it was too small. Thanks.

Hello Steve, I am your 500th subscriber! That was a pleasant flight, thanks for recording it. The Thruster looks like a lot of fun.
Hi Deacon. Many thanks for being the 500th subsciber much appreciated. Thruster is basic but great fun especially in the summer flying doors off. I'm in the process of moving to the Isle of Wight, hope to have some great new videos of flying around the island soon.
@@LSFS You’re welcome. The thruster does look very appealing so I think I’ll have to get a flight arranged at some point. It sounds like it is all change for you and I look forward to new videos. IOW is such a beautiful part of the world. I once flew there in a Cessna 177 Cardinal in the middle of a summer heatwave - I wasn’t allowed to take the doors off that one though!
I like your channel, but like I said before I'll have to pass on all two-stroke motors: too loud, suck too much fuel, and too much oil! I must also point out that in the long run, considering TBO Time comparatives, 4 strokes are always superior.
Totally agree about two stroke engines, four stroke and electric are the future. Indeed, Rotax have stopped all production of two strokes. The problem is the power to weight issue, i could fit a 912 four stroke but that would be to heavy for the Shadow. Looking for an alternative. The Shadow was donated by the widow of the chap who flew it and died unexpectedly, I'm trying to restore it in his memory. Thanks fo the comment.
i disagree, sometimes the whole point of enjoying a toy is the sound it makes and the power that it puts out. 2 strokes feel like a natural turbo with how the power climbs with revs. it's a simple design that still makes me giddy. 4 strokes can often be bland and boring. take a step beyond to electric, which definitely beats them all in many ways, and in it's own way also the most boring yet with that unending silence.
@@LygerTheCLaw You're missing the entire point: you are arguing apples and oranges, while the poster of the video and I are speaking to actual technical real-world empirical evidence and outcomes. I'm fine with your liking two strokes over 4 strokes: you have a right to choose whichever you desire for the reasons you desire. My goal is not aesthetics, my goal is performance improvement and economy: I'm not rich, point of fact I'm on food stamps at this point in my life because I'm in seriously bad health: I have to watch every dollar I spend because I'm on a severely limited income. This may come as a surprise to you, but the vast majority of people around the world have to deal with economics first and aesthetics follow way down the line nearly at last position. I would love to own an Airbike or Legal Eagle, those are both great planes and are very affordable to operate and still do a good job for the type of flying I would prefer to do again. Preferentially, that is aesthetically, I would love to have and fly one of those Murphy moose aircraft that can do pretty much anything you want it to do. From every review I've ever seen it's a great flying airplane. But it's also very expensive by my standards and by most people's standards. Are you beginning to see the dichotomy?
😊😊😊🎉🎉🎉🎉👍👍👍
Hi Steve are you doing this at Peartree. If so do you need a volunteer dogs body as I would love help. Thanks Nick
Hi Nick, it is currently at a very waterlogged Peartree but i have the engine at home. I'm going on a recovering course later this month to see if Oratex will work. Probably wont start any real work until spring but i'll be in touch and you are welcome to come and help.
beautiful ship, looks very prolix construction.
ARE YOU IN THE U.S.A., AND IF IS CORRECT, IN WHAT STATE, ?? C.P.P.
No in the UK just outside London, thanks for the comment.
THAT ENGINE IS A MOTORCYCLE WHAT BRAND IS HOW MUCH THAT PLANE COST THANK YOU WHERE DO YOU SELL IT?
All information is at this website is funflying.co.uk/ for these aircraft, I am there UK engineer. The Minifox has a Corsair Black Bull (33Hp) or a Polini Thor 250 (36Hp) engine. I belive the cost is about 20,000 Euros. Avaible in the UK but manufactrued in Italy.
What are you going to do for flying now that you've moved? I can't imagine you without some form of flying in your life.
Hi Ian, nice to hear from you long time. Yes for the first time in a long time I am without my own aircraft. However I am still keeping flying hours up on a couple of Eurostars and a Skyranger. I have a Shadow which i am doing up, some videos on that to follow soon. Steve Pike
@@LSFS Well I wish you happy flying and every success with the Shadow. Something about them that always appealed to me. Has anyone ever re-engined them with a four stroke Rotax rather than a two stroke? Very much looking forward to the videos on that. I don't know why but CZcams only recently flagged up your videos for my enjoyment.
Thanks Ian, yes go SSDR and can do what you want as long as it stays in weight. There are Shadows with 912 engins fitted
Hi Steve, do you know your "Rotax engine service" video from 3 years back is not able to be"saved" to a play list as its "set for kids", thought you may want to know and set it "not for kids" so peeps can save it to watch again later
Thanks Alan, I will try to amend still getting the hang of things
Super, yes you and me both , happy flying bud
WOW! You have guts flying this primitive thing???
No guts needed. It flies like a charm.
Modern ultralights are tested and proven machines. No need for nonsensical comments.
I'd love it if you'd take time to get rid of the music and dub Voice Narration, explaining your actions as you go; this way, everyone can gain more useful knowledge, both generally and specifically. Thank you for your time. Cheers from the Oil Patch in Central WY, USA
Okay thanks, can do better 😀
@@LSFS We all can, myself included; sometimes I just need to think 'outside the box', and depending on what is currently ongoing in my life (I'm in rotten health), my 'vision' tends to get a bit myopic! It helps when 'one of the Girls' (Open Range Black Angus cattle) comes by, usually with some friends, to chomp on the weeds along the fence line, and I can just stand there and watch them...kinda clears my noggin! Hope you have something similar in your area! Cheers from the Oil Patch in Central WY, USA
surround by scaffolding, its aweful.
If it provides economical flying it gets my seal of approval.
It's an ultralight. They weigh less than a supermarket trolley, and they're supposed to look like that. Thrusters are great little planes. Although I prefer the X'Air Hanumen, in the same cost / performance class.

Hi Do you know if some one is keeping the air strip going. Thanks
For now I will still keep it going as I will be flying back regularly, but have someone looking to take it on later in the future.

Jeeezuss ... who in their right mind ??????????????
এটার ইঞ্জিন কত Hp?
Really appreciate.. How many km can we fly /travel using this vehicle
Its has a 60ltr tank and fuel burn is about 14 Ltr per hour (depending on RPM and speed selected but this is a good average). So a safe 4 hours with a reserve. Cruising speed is 65-70 Kts lets say 65Kts (70MPH) about 260 Nautical miles (about 480km)
How much was that plane?
Its currently worth £14k

How can you be sure the aluminium tube or bolts don’t give way?
Aircraft grade alloy and bolts, regular inspections plus a build standard to BCAR Section S. its very strong and a well proven the type has many thousands of hour service throughout the world. Thanks for the comment
@@LSFS but hairline metal fatigue crack - you can see that? Do you have imaging tech or is it just looking at it?
@@RaferJeffersonIII Yes like all aircraft even composite types they need regular checking, its always a good idea to have an independent inspection as well. Servicing is carried out every 50 hours plus an approved inspector carries out a permit check every year. it is mostly done with visual inspections but if in doubt there are dye penetrants that can be used to check for cracks. Beauty of the Thruster is its an open structure and easily inspected, plus this type of aircraft always needs to be hangered and not left outside in weather. I have been flying many types for over 40 years with more than 5000 hours flying...so far so good, touch wood.
@@LSFS I’ve had 5 lessons in the thruster TST with a rotax 582 but kids/money is my impediment to flying. Also when we did stalls I thought I was going to punch the instructor: “what are you doing!!!” Is what I said! I took flying lessons as a kid as I always wanted to be a pilot but my lazy eye meant I couldn’t and this was a total life defining disappointment but I really want to fulfil the ambition on microlights. My one fear is metal fatigue as nearly every other fault can be planned for. The thruster is my dream, it’s close enough to real 3 axis GA to be “real flying” but also close enough to old school stick and rudder open top to be fun. My retirement fund is my best option! I can’t afford the £15k for the NPPl, aircraft and costs….perhaps I might get a little cheap flex wing or try paragliding….
@@RaferJeffersonIII Well done for trying and i know the problems with family etc. Check out my web site www.lightsportflying.org & www.funflying.co.uk. I was an instructor but recently retired, no one likes stalling or practice forced landings. Your eye wont be a problem there are many flying with just one eye, but you wont ever get a commercial licence. Find a school near you most are using the C42 microlight now a great aircraft to learn on, many are doing low cost shares or even hire now. you will find a list of schools on the BMAA web site. Feel free to meet me at my strip near Bicester sometime and take flight, cost of fuel only.
The wet grass and muck were pulling you to the left, when landings? Very nice LSA, I want one
Many thanks for the note, yes, a short, coupled undercarriage make a greaser landing quite difficult
"Do you know what I like about this aircraft Steve?: The Landing Gear is built high off the ground, It has enough power and space to accommodate a passenger or carry extra Load with the same takeoff ratio used with a single pilot, and the aircraft is very stable and fast. I personally believe this is a good marketing item." 👍
Thanks Andy, i love the fact you can fly doors off, well in summer anyway.
Very nice
The T-tail screwed up the orientation. But... 'any landing you walk away from...'
Yes it is in an unusual attitude, but a slow impact
So plane number 00-E64 came back as a Dyn'Aero MCR-01. This happened two days ago on July 15th, 2022 in Sint-Andries, near Brugge - Belgium. I looked back into accidents with this plane and there are a few fatalities, mostly on takeoffs and landings. All other accidents that happened in the air the people survived by use of the emergency ballistic parachute. It has saved a lot of lives.
Thanks for research and details Stew
SR-22……probably the plane I would buy because of the parachute system.
That's not a Cirrus plane. It has a bubble canopy on it.
It's a Dyn'Aero MCR-01. I just looked up the plane number 00-E64
Indeed, i supply and service many system a year, also now being fitted to Drones and UAVs
Interesting
Thanks for the comment
will have to pop up for a taster flight one day
Sure no problem anytime
Nice vid, but better without music
Thanks i will get the hang of it eventually
A fascinating sortie - thanks for recording. The coordination between EWR and HS2 is obviously beginning to bear fruit as two major construction projects co-exist in this (large) corner of England. I hope that you will be able to repeat this sortie again over time (maybe with an underwing camera to exploit the wonderful visibility from 800 feet?). I loved the "tail-tilt" as part of your walk-around - wouldn't work with a 777!
Thanks for the comment Mike, yes plan to make further updates with better pictures.
what is the name ?
Its a Thruster T600N Microlight, the N stands for nose wheel as there is also a tail wheel version available. Originally designed in Australia, it has a Jabiru engine 4 stroke
Dreadful thing to fly, particularly when one is used to a C42 or Skyranger. Lacks any sort of elevator authority in the flare and has awful pitch oscillation in flight
